Ancient Egg: N109 is a Rare Cat that can be unlocked from the Catnip Challenges after completing 45 Behemoth Culling stages for the first time. It was added in Version 12.3.

Strategy/Usage

Normal/Evolved Form

These forms are useless by design. Similarly to the other Ancient Eggs, this unit is not meant to be used before its True Form.

True Form

Barrel Cat is a Long Distance Shield Piercer with just over 40,000 effective health vs. Aku enemies and similar health to a 20+20 Eraser Cat against non-Aku enemies, as well as surge immunity to dismiss their common gimmick. It has a standing range of 300, which is the same as both Midnite D. and Vermilingua Rangmaster. Although the attack itself can hit up to 400, the standing range and the generally high DPS of Aku enemies often means Barrel Cat will have to rely on the presence of other lower-ranged enemies in order to hit such threats, even if his Behemoth Slayer is factored in for Vermilingua Rangmaster. Fortunately, his activation chance is often much higher than expected, and with the right support he can greatly ease the difficulty presented by such threats, considering the scarcity of reliable ranged units for the task.

Appearance

• Normal Form: An egg-shaped object covered in soil and vegetation.
• Evolved Form: Cleaning it up has revealed its true coloration. It now looks like some sort of futuristic capsule, with an X-like symbol engraved in the middle. Some soil still clings to the bottom, above which there are four black dots, two on each side.
• True Form: A cat in a barrel with 3 knives lodged. Attacks by launching itself out the barrel then reappears in the barrel after fading.

• Barrel Cat is a reference to Pop-up Pirate, a children's game by Tomy in which players stick plastic swords into a barrel containing a trapped pirate.
