Apocalypse (Insane) is the only stage in The Malevolent Bird, which is unlocked after clearing Mount Aku/Mount Fuji in The Aku Realms. It appears on the 18th of every month. This is a No Continues stage.

Battleground[]

Strategy[]

Malevolent Flying Cat is pretty slow, and its support doesn't spawn frequently, but matters complicate dramatically if more come before the previous ones are down. Most proper strategies should account for these threats and bring units accordingly to neutralize them as soon as possible to focus on the main threat.

Recommended Units[]

  • Supercar Cat - Supercar is a fast but frail unit with 100% chance to Knockback all traited enemies and destroy Shields on hit. Considering Malevolent Flying Cat's massive Shield and Health pools as well as its three knockbacks, Supercar can be great for regaining ground while dealing a small burst of damage. However, timing is required with this unit due to its very low range.
  • Cat Researcher - With very high speed, rapid (but single-target) attacks, good range and 15% chance to destroy Shields on hit, Cat Researcher is one of the better alternatives to remove Malevolent Flying Cat's Shield. Its uses don't just end there, as its high range also allows it to counter Midnite D.
  • Idi - Idi is an expensive specialist rusher with Massive Damage to Relics and very high speed, both of which are extremely useful when dealing with Puffington. A level 35 Idi deals just enough damage to nuke Puffington with two hits, removing him from play and making the stage far easier.
  • Awakened Bahamut - Bahamut is a powerful rusher that combines speed, attack rate and damage but is limited by his cooldown and low health. Nevertheless, he is a great counter against Midnite D., as he can rush in and deal heavy damage once other units destroy the Shield, removing Midnite D. long before other enemies arrive.
  • Ramen Cat - An Anti-Angel specialist meatshield with resistance to them, Ramen can used to stall Lutrinae Gokurakko when it appears. Don't deploy it too often, as Malevolent Flying Cat can destroy it easily, and Gokurakko's knockback can push it away.
  • Mushroom Cat - Mushroom is a great answer to Gokurakko, able to outrange its Omni Strike by 90 and deals Massive Damage to Angels, whittling down said enemy with terrifying ease when used correctly. In the rare case where Malevolent Flying Cat produces a Wave, Mushroom is able to withstand that due to its Wave Immunity. Much like Bahamut, however, Mushroom requires considerable support to work on this stage which can take up more slots than expected.
  • Fishman - Given Maawth respawns infinitely and can cause some serious trouble at range, Fishman is important to have around, being a fast rusher with Massive Damage to Floating enemies that can nuke it when given the chance. Maawth's rapid attacks, freeze ability and damage however mean Fishman may be inconsistent unless another unit baits Maawth's attack.
  • Stone - Stone despawns 1.3 seconds after attacking, but boasts extreme health, very high speed, with Immunity to Waves, Freeze and Knockback. Since Malevolent Flying Cat's extreme damage wipes meatshields from existence each time it fires, Stone serves as a good source of defense and can give other units a bigger window of opportunity, especially when backed by research combos.

Recommended Ubers[]

  • Lufalan Pasalan - Much like how it worked in Flappy Cat and Forest Beasts, Lufalan outranges the main threat and deals heavy damage, with its critical hits speeding up the fight dramatically when they occur. Since many threats focusing on quality rather than quantity, Lufalan's single target, long cooldown and low health won't matter much because they simply can't reach it. However, Lufalan needs to be backed by units that can consistently delay or hinder Malevolent Flying Cat and other enemies to stay out of the line of fire, and those Mini-Waves might hit it.
  • Kalisa - Kalisa isn't all that useful because only one Angel appears in the stage, but with Gokurakko's very high stats, it's imperative to take it out as soon as possible. Her rapid attacks at midrange deal Massive Damage to Angels while staying safe from Gokurakko's Omni Strikes. She won't do much otherwise, but might be able to get a free hit on Malevolent Flying Cat for some extra chip.
  • Greater Balrog Cat - Greater Balrog is similar to Lufalan Pasalan, being a powerful, single-target eliminator with meaningful downsides, though his lower cost and much shorter cooldown means he can be replaced easily when lost. He needs to be at level 42 or above, requiring Defense Up, Attack Up and Strengthen to actually work after Malevolent Flying Cat's Shield is destroyed, but when he does he can quickly whittle it down long before its support could get to him.
  • Cake Machine - Cake Machine is pretty much the ultimate Midnite D. killer, as they have Resistance to Aku, deal slow, huge damage and have a chance to weaken on top of that. When alone with a Midnite D., Cake Machine kills them in 3 hits at just level 42. They also have a fast enough recharge time to be ready for each of the Midnite Ds in the level. While they do have a chance to pierce shields, it is somewhat inconsistent, so using another unit like Bullet Train to break Midnite D's shield before Cake Machine goes in for the kill is recommended.

Trivia[]

  • Apocalypse is a Merciless stage in BCJP, but is only Insane in BCEN.
  • Prior to Version 13.0, the enemy base had 1,500,000 HP instead of 2,500,000.
