Apple Cat (Super Rare Cat)

Apple Cat is a Super Rare Cat that was introduced in Version 2.0 and can be unlocked by playing the Rare Cat Capsule. True Form added in Version 5.7 gains Area Attack and increases freeze chance to 100%. Talents were added in Version 9.10.

Strategy/Usage

It is not recommended to rely much on this Cat prior to unlocking its True Form. It can be nice against a lone Bore or One Horn, but he is rarely worth bringing over the more reliable Witch Cat, since she can be stacked and survives longer because of this.

True Form

iCat is a massive improvement over Apple Cat and Face Cat. With Area Attacks and a guaranteed freeze, this unit becomes invaluable against most Red Enemies, shining the most against Bores, this time even in hordes, Shy Boys, Capies and almost all common red peons. With alternating attacks from only two iCats, short ranged Red enemies can be permanently frozen as long as you desire. In stages such as Deeply Dreaming, this gives a massive advantage by allowing time to build up money or stack Long Distance units.

With help from Combos, a single iCat can perma-freeze any Red Enemy by itself! Some setup may be required to reach certain enemies in the first place, though.

Talents

Although Speed Up would help iCat reach Hannya between attacks or avoid certain Long Distance attacks more reliably, it usually ends up causing iCat to run forward too much every time the line advances, putting this unit in danger. Health Up and the two resistances are nice at most, but they will rarely make a visible difference, at least unless one wants to go all out with health, possibly through granting this unit + levels, Catseyes or a Talent Orb. Attack Up makes this unit worse at stalling, only to improve an already low DPS, so it's also not worth the investment.

Orb

Defence up against Reds would be a good choice since it will tank more hits from reds. Attack up against reds is not the best choice because of its mediocre DPS and low range. It may also kill enemies too fast when you’re trying to stall.

Appearance

• Normal Form: Looks like a giant apple with legs. The cat inside opens the apple and dances to attack the enemy. The cat inside looks like Hip Hop Cat.
• Evolved Form: Seems to be using the corpse of The Face. While attacking, The Face's jaw stretches, but remains intact.
• True Form: Reverts back to an apple but it now has brightly coloured stripes, like Apple's logo from 1976-1998. The cat inside is now wearing a turtleneck shirt, pants and glasses, resembling co-founder of Apple: Steve Jobs.

Trivia

• Prior to Version 4.7, Apple Cat was a part of four other Cat Combos: William Tell, Breakfast, Roasted Apple and Grocery Cart.
• Face Cat heavily resembles a boss from Harmful Park that appears to be Frankenstein's monster, but opens up its head to reveal a cat dancing in a manner identical to Apple Cat. The animation can be seen in the Gallery.
• Apple Cat's attack animation can be seen in the opening of the manga Sazae-san's anime adaption done by Tama the Cat. The animation can be seen in the Gallery.
• iCat is a reference to Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple.
