Every year since 2014, PONOS Corporation has set up pranks for April Fools' Day, most of which involve fake articles.

List of Jokes[]

2014[]

  • PONOS posted an article about a Cat who is suspected of not actually being a cat after entering the real world.

2015[]

  • PONOS posted an article with an image edited to have giant Sexy Legs Cat statue next to the Statue of Liberty, built to celebrate the release of The Battle Cats POP!. It also states that there are plans to build a similar statue of Paris Cat in the city for which she is named.

2016[]

  • Let's Start Over was replaced with an easier version of Love and Death.
  • PONOS posted an article announcing the success of the Cat CPU's newly improved AI, along with plans to use it in real-world applications. Other subjects include a partership with the West Japan Railway Company to create a Nyanko Daisensou themed card to spend Cat Food on train rides and earn points for purchasing Cat Units with, as well as the announcement of a new magazine detailing the history and inner workings of the Cat Base. Each issue would come with a part for the subscriber to build their very own version of it.

2017[]

2018[]

  • PONOS posted an article about a made-up game called "School Cat Club Idol Heart Live Plus!", a parody of the mobile rhythm game series Love Live! School Idol Festival.
    • The right-hand side of the article includes an advertisement for "Your Cat's Name"; a parody of Your Name; underneath the ad, there are headlines that mention Anyazon, Instantgram and DogeTube, parodying Amazon, Instagram and YouTube, respectively.

2019[]

  • PONOS posted an article about a made-up game called "In Shōwa! Nyanko Great War", a 4-bit game released on the Family Nyamputer. This game's continuation feature, which lets players resume play using a password, is touted as revolutionary.

2020[]

  • Players received 1 XP as a stamp reward.
  • PONOS posted an article about an electronic pay service called "NyanPay", which allows you to make transactions by holding a koban to the cash register, and a large-scale cash back campaign to raise 222.2 billion yen.

2021[]

  • PONOS posted an article about the release of real-life AI Drone Cats, which are touted as being capable of deliving packages within 22 minutes of an order being placed.

2022[]

  • PONOS posted an article about the release of a Battle Cats themed area at Universal Studios Japan, which would feature all sorts of attractions related to the main game.

2023[]

  • Players received 1 Cat Ticket celebrating the one year anniversary of The Battle Cats Movie.
  • PONOS posted an article about a movie adaptation on the mobile game with the release date of February 22nd, 2222.

Trivia[]

  • The 2017 and 2018 April Fools' articles are the only ones to be available in English.
  • The 2023 article poster is based off of The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
  • According to the intro, Into the Future takes place on April 1st.
  • The Japanese version of the April Fools' 2017 article features a joke about the wall on America and Mexico's border being made of Wall Cats, but this joke is absent in the English version, likely to prevent outrage.
  • The Bikkuriman Collaboration was advertised a few weeks before its initial release in Ponos' 2019 April Fools' article.
