Axe Cat is one of the Normal Cats and your first proper damage-dealing cat. It is unlocked after clearing China in Empire of Cats Chapter 1 and costs 0 XP or a Normal Cat Capsule. True Form significantly improves attack and health. In The Battle Cats Unite!, it is available once clearing China from the Empire of Cats chapter and costs 2000 XP to be unlocked/rolled in the Normal Cat Capsule.

Strategy/Usage[]
Axe Cat is only useful early in the game because it is the first proper damage dealer a player obtains. It greatly exceeds the damage output of Cat and Tank Cat. This makes it valuable in early game stages against tougher enemies, including Those Guys, who can be a pain for newer players because of their high health and attack speed, and Pigge, which Axe Cat has an advantage against.
Unfortunately, Axe Cat soon becomes redundant as longer-ranged damage dealers like Gross Cat and Lizard Cat become available. Even so, Axe Cat can be used as a damage dealing meatshield like Cat or Tank Cat where money generation is no problem. However, the higher cost combined with low health make Axe Cat a poor choice, even against Red enemies.
The misery for Axe Cat only continues when stronger attackers like Crazed Axe Cat are unlocked. Crazed Axe Cat, which itself isn't particularly useful as it suffers from the same problems, still outclasses Axe Cat (and his True Form) in every way.
True Form[]
Dark Cat has double the base stats of his previous forms. Unfortunately, he still retains his weaknesses and is overshadowed by other easily unlockable Rare Cats. His spamming cost is too detrimental through late Stories of Legend and Uncanny Legends, to the point that he can be replaced by Jiangshi Cat, who costs more and suffers from the same issue but has the survive ability to compensate.
Depending on his level, Dark Cat can be effective against early game Bores when their magnifications don't exceed 150%. However, other cats like Maximum the Fighter or Elemental Duelist Cat typically perform much better.
Another purpose of his true form is a Cat Combo with Dark Lazer, namely Power of Darkness, which greatly increases weaken duration. This is especially helpful when used in tandem with Onmyoji Cat or Headmaster Cat Jobs, allowing absolute crowd control and area denial under the right circumstances.

Trivia[]
- Berserkory's axe looks the same as Axe Cat's, only Berserkory's is bloodstained.
- In his Japanese description, it's Axe Cat whose house he was freeloading at. Additionally, Axe Cat's Japanese name is Battle Cat while Berserkory's is Battle Koalacchio.
- The cross on Brave Cat & Dark Cat's shield could be a reference to the Crusaders, although it is also likely just an indication of the shape of the shield.
