Big Sal has gargantuan damage; enough to one shot the Cat Base. However, he has a mediocre amount of health (300,000 at 100%), moves very slowly on the battlefield and has short range. Similar to other Zombie enemies, Big Sal can go underground when a Cat Unit enters his range, but, unlike most other Zombie enemies, he burrows an infinite amount of times! Big Sal can also revive at 50% health one time. Keep in mind that he's usually at 200% magnification.
Piledriver Cat and Ectoweight Cat can hold the line against this enemy, preventing him from hitting the base by attacking often with his attacks that grant a knockback. Similarly, Kubilan and Bomburr can keep this enemy away from the base while they are close. You can solo him with Bomburr but be wary that you can’t send out any other cats in order for this to work.
Stacking any other crowd-controller who can freeze zombies is another way to deal with him. Weedwacker Cat is one of the best for freezing zombies, and when paired with Healer Cat CC on his debut level, as they can easily permafreeze him.
When spawned alone, such as in his debut level, Professor Cat Jobs can weaken his damage to 1%. In levels such as Deep Sea Dying, however, Big Sal is spawned in hordes, and with some luck, the Surge Attack created by his True Form (if you have it) can weaken Sal in droves, buying you time.
Lastly, it's possible to just take advantage of his low health to simply kill him while he's on his way.
It is a troublesome bull flying salamander that dislikes even opening eyes. In the active baseball era of the professional baseball team led the team to victory with the "four-legged shooting method". Even if you retire you will not heal the habit of escaping the touch.
Axoloty is Big Sal's Starred Alien variant, introduced in Chapter 3 of Cats of the Cosmos. While it has less HP and damage, it has more range, movement speed and knockbacks. However, the time between attacks is 266s. It also creates a Lv.10 Wave Attack at 100% chance and has a 10,000 HP barrier.
