Cala Maria is a powerful enemy that has a very different attack than her Alien/Floating variant. To attack, she slams the ground 3 times in succession. This is a 3-stage attack that deals 36,000 damage per hit for a whopping total of 108,000 damage - enough to make mincemeat of any cat she hits not constantly protected by meatshields. Please do not try to solo your favorite Uber Rare against this enemy.
Her weakness is that her 3 consecutive attacks are all single hit which means in a stack of many cat units she can only hit 3 units per attack animation (3 front most units). This means your heavy damaging units can survive to deal damage when it's among a horde of fast moving meatshields.
Cats that have resistance against Angels, such as Ramen Cat and Guardian Gamereon, can tank a few hits from this enemy. However, since it attacks almost non-stop, spawning them is usually a waste of money. It moves at the same speed as Basic Cat and requires 2 knockbacks. To balance this abomination of God Cat, her attack is only single target. There are few Cats (around 20) that can outrange Cala Maria as of 6.1.
Unlike Calamary, she is not considered a Floating enemy.
Even though Cat God does not exist in the Stories of Legend since it takes place in the past, Cala Maria is sent by him.
Up to update 8.0, with all 3 combined attacks, this enemy has the 3rd highest base damage of any regular enemy in the game (108,000), higher then Capy's critical hits (104,000), but lower than Teacher Cybear (999,999) and Filibuster Obstructa (1,000,000).
Like its predecessor, its name is based on the word "calamari," meaning fried squid.
Cala Maria is a name frequently used for videogame characters, for example, one of the bosses of the famous videogame Cuphead, coincidentally, shares her name with this enemy, and is also a sea creature.
