Cat Trial is the sixth stage in Alcatraz.
Beginning the battle, only Doge, Snache and Those Guys appear to be blocking the way of the player. When you damage the Enemy Base, the boss (Camelle) and many highly buffed One Horns will be spawned. A One Horn will respawn after 10 seconds if you kill one of them.

Cat Trial is a stage where the enemy is playing defensively, and is notable for being one of the first SoL stages where the enemy's defensive ability is the primary source of difficulty. To test the player's offensive potential, this level sends out One Horns as heavy barriers; each one has a massive health pool and will respawn quickly after death. However, if you manage to kill one of the One Horns, you obtain a large sum of money, which you can use to your advantage by sending out all of your units. It is important not to waste that money, so units like Pirate Cat should be avoided, in favour of defensive units or strong attackers.
There are few ways to approach this stage:
- Holding the line: Attempt to build a stack of area attackers (such as Paris Cat) while spamming meatshields. When the One Horns die, quickly send out Holy Valkyrie to hopefully freeze Camelle, then send in attackers to deal some damage before being forced to repeat the process. Alternatively, just send in attackers.
- Luring: Simply stall the One Horns near the Cat Base and try to kill them all at once or close to it. After that, rush down Camelle with A. Bahamut or tanky attackers like Island and Jamiera variants to kill it before the second wave. This should be possible with just A. Bahamut and meatshields even in two stars.
- Piercing: Build up a line of defence, but try to use the One Horns as a stepping stone to kill Camelle with Long Distance, Wave or Surge units. Notably good units for this are certain specific Ubers and Manic Macho Legs, with iCat and/or Roe defending, but there are also many options in four stars, notably Slime Cat, Mina, Prisoner or a talented Dark Lazer.
- Power through mindlessly with boosted units or ideal ubers for this situation, like Pai Pai+D'arktanyan.
