Catfruit is a drop-chance item obtainable by clearing related Growing stages which appear on certain days only in a weekly cycle. Catfruit is separated into three tiers of rarities. The first two tiers are separated into six types;Green, Purple, Red, Blue, Yellow and Elder while the last one has a Rainbow color. The types in total are 13 kinds as below:
1.
Catfruit seed as the lowest tier.
2.
Catfruit as the second tier.
3.
Epic Catfruit as the rarest tier.
Catfruit Chapters Cycle
Each catfruit color has only one related chapter which appears in Stories of Legend as a special chapter for a period of time; each day, only one of the color chapter appears. Ergo, there are five chapters for each color which fill five days in a week. The only exceptions are Catfruit Jubilee which can appear randomly after clearing every stage and is Epic Catfruit related, along with Elder Catfruit, which is received from Growing Strange. Each chapter stage consists of enemies of certain type. The chapters appear in a cycle as follows:
Enemy type varies but usually includes multiple types of enemies and/or Metal Enemies. Can be obtained from most Catfruit stages.
Can be obtained on all Growing stages (except Growing Strange) but in a moderate chance. On 進化の虹マタタビ, it is guaranteed.
Stages Explanation
Each chapter consists of three stages of progressive difficulties. The higher the difficulty of the stage, the higher the tier of enemies/bosses. They will also spawn faster and have higher strength magnifications. However, higher difficulties also will have a higher chance to obtain a better tier of Catfruit and chance to face Catfruit Jubilee should player clear the initial stage. Catfruit Jubilee does not allow the player to bring any Items except for Speed Ups and forces the player to use the last formation from the previous stage, as it is a Continuation Stage. Very high difficulty Catfruit stages guarantee at least a seed should player able to pass it. The chance of obtaining a Catfruit of any kind from the stages are as follows:
The drop rates in Catfruit Jubilee vary, depending on the stage it was accessed from (Hard, Expert, or Insane).
You can only obtain one drop per stage.
Using a Treasure Radar will guarantee a Catfruit as result. But if the player is eligible, it is still possible to obtain higher tier of reward(s).
Growing Strange
At first glance, Growing Strange only contains one stage, An Elder Secret. However, when the aforementioned stage is cleared, one of seven other levels will be accessible, similarly to Catfruit Jubilee. Although they have the same difficulty rating, these stages are considered to be far more difficult than the first one. The levels consists of any traited enemy (excluding Relic) and they come in random order. The chances for each type of drop are as follows:
Stage

Chances
Seed
Catfruit
Epic Catfruit
Stage 1
Merciless
0%

Like Catfruit Jubilee, accessing any of the Continuation Stages will not cost any energy.
Due to the nature of the follow-up stages, the player must use the same lineup they used for the previous level, and items will not carry over.
Catfruit Storage and Functions
Upon obtaining a Catfruit, it will be saved into the Catfruit Storage.
You can access the Catfruit storage by toggling the storage switch. The button is on the right top of storage screen and is only available after clearing certain requirements before!!
The Catfruit Storage has an interface and functions more or less the same as the Cat Unit Storage. To exchange Catfruit into XP or converting seeds to catfruit, one must tap on the desired catfruit in the catfruit storage. With 5 of the same type of Catfruit Seeds, you can combine them into a same colored Catfruit. Epic Catfruit, however, can only be obtained as a rare drop from the Catfruit stages, and as thus may not be obtained through exchange.
Catfruit of any kind can also be exchanged into XP: Catfruit Seeds can be exchanged for 5000 XP, Catfruit for 50000 XP and Epic Catfruit for 500000 XP.
Evolving Units Using Catfruit
The main usage of Catfruit is to unlock certain units' True Forms if available, which requires Catfruit. Each unit requires different amounts of Catfruit along with XP to evolve. The requirements for each relevant cat are listed in their respective wiki pages.
Different units require different amounts and types of Catfruit. Most Cats use the most of the Catfruit color which is obtained from defeated the enemy type they are strong against if applicable. Artist Cat → Ramen Cat is a good example. That cat's evolutionary line is good against Angels — it resists their attacks. As thus, Artist Cat needs the most amount of Yellow Catfruit to evolve as Yellow Catfruit is obtained by defeating Angels.
Trivia
The Catfruit is often called "Actinidia Fruit" in English prior official naming since the Japanese translation and its shape resembles so.
There actually 16 kinds of Catfruits; 3 of the types are not used in-game. When revealed in game, the unused types only show as white circle with kanji "仮" written over which means "temporary" in BCJP or as black boxes in other versions. When exchanged to XP, they give 500000 XP each as same as Epic Catfruit does.
The Catfruit Storage can hold a maximum of 128 Catfruit items. Attempting to play a Catfruit stage will result in the player getting a message saying that the player must exchange Catfruit for XP/grow Catfruit Seeds.
Prior to update 6.9, growing Catfruit Seeds into Catfruit required 10 seeds instead of 5.
On the Hard: Growing Strange level, the chance of getting a Fruit instead of Seed is greatly increased on your first clear.
