Dark Dober

Dark Dober (ドヴェルダーク, Doveru Dāku, Dover Dark) is a Black/Sage variant of Dober P.D introduced in Konjac Valley.

Enemy

This Dober variant is much more dangerous, with very high health and DPS, slightly more range, an Omni Strike that pierces up to 350 range, and a guaranteed chance to weaken units to 25% for 2 seconds. Its Mini-Waves are comparatively less threatening due to their lower damage, as they primarily serve to expand its Weaken ability. The icing on the cake is that Dark Dober is a Sage, meaning despite its exploitable trait, all crowd-control specialists without Sage Slayer will be unable to properly impede it. Fortunately, it is kept in check by its six knockbacks.

Strategy

While Bombercat is generally ineffective, a Talented Dark Lazer can be invaluable against Dark Dober due to being Strong against Black and immune to Weaken, while also having enough health to survive several hits if well-invested. However, Dark Dober has an Omni Strike that allows its to easily weaken any unit within its reach, so its piercing can become deadly under certain circumstances.

As far as Uber Rare Cats go, a high-level Lasvoss Reborn is ideal for taking down Dark Dober, as Lasvoss is immune to Wave Attacks and Weaken, on top of having extreme damage. With the help of Void Fruit and Cat Combos, Immortal Nobunaga can just barely perma-freeze this enemy, but be prepared for Dark Dober to break free whenever it gets knocked back. Immortal Yukimura can deal massive damage to Dark Dober and if at Level 60 with full talents, will knock Dark Dober back with every hit.

Dark Dober still keeps the weakness of its original form though- it has pretty low base range. Abusing this is almost necessary to take it down. Most backliners will be able to do the job, but those with Wave or Weaken immunity will be more useful.

Overall, this enemy is not to be underestimated in any way, shape, or form. Dispose of it as quickly as possible.

• Dark Dober's Japanese name, Doveru Dāku (ドヴェルダーク, Dover Dark), may be a pun on Dovoruzāku (ドヴォルザーク), the Japanese pronunciation of Dvořák - a famous Czech composer best known for composing the New World Symphony. This is supported by how Dark Dober's Japanese description mentions compositions and how most other Sages are also based on historical figures.
• Dark Dober's Japanese description may have been inspired by Mamoru Samuragochi, a composer who was once hailed as "the Beethoven of Japan", but eventually confessed to having a ghostwriter write his best-known compositions for him. Samuragochi also used to have shoulder-length hair vaguely like Dark Dober's.
• Given the musical theming, the shape and animation of Dark Dober's tail may be intended to resemble a conductor's baton.
