Date Masamune (Uber Rare Cat)

Date Masamune is an Uber Rare Cat that can be unlocked by using the Rare Cat Capsule during the Sengoku Wargods Vajiras event. True Form increases his range, damage and health. Talents were added in Version 9.10, and Ultra Talents were added in Version 12.2.

Strategy/Usage

Before True Form, Masamune has low stats and a very situational ability. Overall, his first two forms are not recommended unless you have no alternatives, but they still have some use. They can still be used to dish out decent DPS, but not to the level of his True Form.

True Form

Immortal Masamune increases his usage by raising his stats across the board. He receives more health, allowing him to survive a lot of things more easily. He is also given more range, which is rather significant. Immortal Masamune is rather good for crowd-controlling things like Berserkory and Rain D. due to his fast attacks and Knockback ability.

Talents

Date Masamune's talents are not very impressive, and he ends up getting the short end of the stick.

Slow Immunity and Wave Resistance do not work well with his relatively low health, as enemies with such abilities, even within his target traits, simply inflict too much damage for him to handle. Knockback is slightly better, but only against a select number of Red/Black enemies with low knockback counts, making it pretty situational given the more effective counters available against them, as well as his ability being quite effective already.

Masamune only has one Ultra Talent, Mini-Wave. Although this may seem small, Mini-Wave is all Masamune needs, as it not only adds a flat 20% increase to his DPS when fully upgraded, but it also pairs incredibly well with his Knockback ability, pushing back Red and Black enemies even farther including the few that normally outranged him. The one problem with this Ultra Talent is the fact that it is an Ultra Talent, meaning there may be significantly better Ubers to use your NP and Dark Catseyes on, especially with how rare both resources are.

Trivia

• Date Masamune was a famed samurai who fought during the Sengoku era and during the early Edo period. He was known for his fine horsemanship and stellar use of firearms, with the former being referenced in his design. The whole Date clan was actually renowned for the same reasons.
• Date Masamune's Normal Form somewhat resembles Odin from Final Fantasy IV.
