Detective Vigler (Uber Rare Cat)

Detective Vigler is an Uber Rare Cat that was added in Version 7.1 and can be unlocked by playing the Rare Cat Capsule during the Dark Heroes event. True Form added in Version 9.2 loses Alien target but gains Strong & guaranteed Freeze against Zombies, plus a shorter attack animation and time between attacks. Talents were added in Version 10.10. Ultra Form was added in Version 14.3.

Strategy/Usage

Detective Vigler's main use lies in the "Research" Effect UP Combo Cheating Heart?, which is no less potent than Aerial Recon but requires half as many slots, forming a powerful synergy with Biohazard, Bony Bone, Mini-Saurus and Pork on Rice. In battle, this unit can also be used as a crowd-controller to freeze Floating and Aliens in his first form, and his guaranteed Wave Attack can freeze any backliners, such as Alpacky and Calamary, as well as clear peons.

His Evolved Form freezes Zombies instead of Floating enemies, but due to his long attack animation and low standing range, they will likely burrow before he can attack. However, he can still be used against slower or non-burrowing Zombies such as Lord Gravey or Zyclone. Since waves also carry his Zombie Killer ability, he can occasionally wipe out a group of weaker Zombies such as Zoge or The Thrillerz.

His weakness is his long attack animation and pause between attacks. If he misses a hit, he may have to face a lot of damage, plus he won't be able to shake off Zombies who un-burrow on him easily.

True Form

His True Form fixes many of his problems as an anti-Zombie: Strong Against provides extra survivability, which, combined with his 6 knockbacks and 98-second recharge time, makes it quite possible to stack a few of him. His attack animation becomes roughly 0.67 seconds faster and he gains a 100% chance to freeze Zombies for about 50% uptime. All in all, his True Form allows him to become quite a bit more useful against Zombies, although he still remains lacking against other traits.

Talents

While expensive, Target Relic gives Gravicci another target to be Strong Against, increasing his health and DPS while allowing a 100% Freeze chance against them for 5 seconds through his Lv.3 Wave attack. Paired with Immune to Curse, which prevents his abilities from being shut down by Relics or the Relic Doge Base, both Talents convert Gravicci into a good anti-Relic and Zombie option with crowd-control capabilities, extending his overall usage to Uncanny Legends stages.

Appearance

• Normal Form: A cat dressed as a detective holding a magnifying glass and floating above an orb that seems to hold a mysterious power. Vigler, a man dressed white floats upside-down below the orb. His face looks like that of a ghost or spirit of some sort and has two horns. During the attack animation the cat and the man get absorbed in the orb and pop out in each other's position, then the man charges a small explosion in front of the unit and, after the attack happens, they get back to their respective positions.
• Evolved Form: Same as Normal Form, but the man looks more like a normal human, he's dressed in black and wears different clothes. The orb has purple energy orbiting around and the cat has a bag instead of the magnifying glass.
• True Form: The man's hand now glows purple and his cat now holds a cup and plate. Loses the suit jacket but keeps the tie. His outfit is now half white (from the waist up) and half black.

• In each form, the floating cat above Vigler/Gabriel/Gravicci resembles a different fictional detective:
  • Detective Vigler's cat is dressed as Sherlock Holmes.
  • Inspector Gabriel's cat has the signature hat and bag of Kosuke Kindaichi.
  • Section Chief Gravicci's cat references Miss Marple.
• The names Vigler and Gravicci are derived from gravity. In Vigler's case, this is only obvious in Japanese:
  • グラヴィティ guraviti (gravity) → ヴィグラー Vigurā (Vigler)
• As a demonic detective often seen upside-down, Vigler may have been inspired by the manga Neuro: Supernatural Detective.
• Detective Vigler's description says he solved just over 665 cases, which means 666, a number commonly referred to as the "Number of the Beast."
