Devil Wife

Devil Wife (デヴィル夫人, Deviru Fujin, Madam Devil) is an Aku variant of Celeboodle that appears in Event Stages and Zero Legends.

Enemy

This devil of a poodle is very similar to the original, being a single-Target glass cannon attacker with low range and a relatively high money drop. It is worth noting that her base attack power is almost double that of Celeboodle's, and while it matters little, the Level 1 Death Surge can cripple incoming Cats in its area of effect, especially when Devil Wives are spammed and at higher magnifications where they can nuke many Cats in seconds.

Strategy

Treat Devil Wife as a shorter-ranged, single-target version of Condemned Peng, but with lower health and higher damage. Her Surge spawn area doesn't reach as far as Condemned Peng's, but is still long enough to reach your backliners. Therefore it is best to bring plenty of Surge-immune units when you fight Devil Wife, especially in swarms. Cat Cactus in particular can tank Devil Wife's hits and kill her instantly while also taking no damage from her Surge.

Much like Celeboodle and Mistress Celeboodle, it's recommended to exploit her high money drop with units that have the Extra Money ability, such as a Talented Can Can Cat.

Trivia

• Her Sinner Snache-like tail is a reference to the canine guardian of the underworld in Greek Mythology, Cerberus, who is commonly depicted with a serpent for a tail.
• Her Japanese name, Deviru Fujin (デヴィル夫人, "Madam Devil"), spells "Devil" as デヴィル rather than デビル or 悪魔 like other Aku enemies. This is most likely for the sake of making a pun on Devi Fujin (デヴィ夫人, "Madam Dewi"), one name for Japanese-born Indonesian businesswoman, socialite, TV personality and philanthropist Dewi Sukarno. Like Devil Wife, Dewi has made many donations to the less fortunate.
• She is the only non-Colossus enemy to have debuted in a Colossus Gauntlet.
• In BCJP, Devil Wife was introduced in Attack of the Omens, but her first appearance in all other versions was in Muddy Fjord, as Attack of the Omens was not released outside of Japan until May 22nd, 2023, while Cats Cradle Basin was made available worldwide on May 17th.
