Felyne (Special Cat)

JAPANESE EXCLUSIVE This feature is exclusive to the Japanese version of The Battle Cats but it may also appear in other versions such as BCTW and BCKR!

Felyne is a Special Cat created by a collaboration event between Battle Cats and Monster Hunter. It was added in Version 4.2. This unit can be unlocked by completing collaboration quests in the Monster Hunter Big Game Hunting Quest app.

Strategy/Usage

Normal Form

While Felyne's spammability and rapid attacks are great qualities for a crowd-controller, the rest of its kit massively works against it. Felyne's pathetic HP and range make it difficult to maintain a stack against nearly anything. Its targeted trait being Black makes this even worse considering that Black enemies are often spammed and thus require Area Attackers to be properly stalled, and main threats like Shadow Boxer K and Gory Black outrange Felyne and easily wipe it out. Even if Bombercat hasn't been acquired yet, Cat Gunslinger and even Tin Cat are more worthy of use.

Evolved Form

Felyne & Melynx go on to target a slightly more suitable trait. They just barely outrange Bore and One Horn, but such enemies are still threats without primary crowd-control such as Witch Cat or Apple Cat, and other Red enemies like Shy Boy outrange them. Sushi Cat is by far a better choice against Red enemies, as they have Area Attack to apply Weaken to multiple enemies at once and impressive bulk to tank them—none of which Felyne & Melynx have.
