The Enemy Guide is a compendium of Enemy Units the player has encountered. It is unlocked after clearing Madagascar/Tottori in Empire of Cats Chapter 1.
Overview[]
- The Enemy Guide can be accessed through its own button in the Cat Base Menu. As of Version 13.2, the player can also jump straight to any enemy's Guide entry by tapping its icon in the "Enemies Appearing" window shown when tapping a stage's name.
- Unlike the Cat Guide, the Enemy Guide is one straight list with no way to filter for a specific enemy. Swipe left or right to switch the enemy that is currently being displayed.
- The info provided about an enemy includes its name, special abilities, typing, and a brief description up to four lines long, which usually only offers gameplay-irrelevant information such as personality or backstory. Even enemy-exclusive abilities are shown, except for Zombies' Burrow and Revive abilities.
- An arrow button in the bottom-right corner hides the currently displayed enemy's description and moves the unit to the bottom of the screen, which is necessary to fully view bigger characters such as Daboo of the Dead.
- The player can tap on an enemy to knock it back. After landing on the ground, they will move back to the center at their normal speed. They will automatically return to the center after switching to a different enemy.
- Animated enemy bases are omitted, and while most event enemies are included, they generally lack the descriptions granted to main enemies.
- Some enemies introduced in events are grouped with the main enemies and have their own descriptions, including Super Metal Hippoe, all Cyclones, Advent Bosses, Angel Fanboy, CyberFace, Heavenly Tower bosses, Teacher Cybear, Midnite D., Colossus Gauntlet bosses, all enemies from the Empress' Research event series except the Wicked Cats, and Devil Wife.
Order[]
Rather than IDs, enemies are generally listed in the order in which they are introduced and added. For example, Doge Dark has an ID of 48 and Metal Hippoe 49, but in the Enemy Guide they are swapped, which is more reflective of their in-game appearances: Metal Hippoe is encountered earlier than Doge Dark. However, there are several exceptions and oddities:
- Super Metal Hippoe is listed between Shadow Boxer K and Rain D., despite the fact that all three were added at the same time and that Super Metal Hippoe was an event enemy whereas the other two are introduced in Bamboo Island.
- All non-Li'l Cyclones are grouped together between H. Nah and R.Ost, even those added in later updates. Despite also being introduced in a Cyclone Stage, however, Angel Fanboy is separate, coming between Ururun Wolf and Gabriel.
- Heavenly Hippoe and Gabriel are switched. This is particularly odd, since their IDs do have Heavenly Hippoe coming before Gabriel like in-game.
- Oldhorn and Sir Rel are switched.
- Sinner Snache and Condemned Peng are both before Aku Gory, even though Aku Gory was added and would normally be encountered before either one of them.
- The Gauntlet-specific Colossus Enemies are all grouped together between Red EnerG and Ultima Beast Naala, even though they were all added at separate points in time.
- Most event enemies only appear after the main foes in the guide have passed; they follow the same rules of release order, but receive a distinct list. There are two exceptions to the release order pattern: Pigge Back is listed first because Autumn = Sports Day! was the first monthly event, even though Pigge Back wasn't present in the original version of the event, and Killer Tank Cat is listed right after Killer Cat despite being added to the game much later.

The following enemies are not listed in the Enemy Guide:

- All enemies introduced in collaboration events except for Mega Cat, Mega Cat EX, White Wind, Red Wind and Black Wind, all of which can be found in non-collab stages save for Mega Cat EX
- Package Doge
- W (form 1), W (form 2) and W (form 3)
- Nekondo SP
- Chinese Zodiac Doge variants (Rat Doge, Cow Doge, Tiger Doge, Rabbit Doge and Dragon Doge)
- Birthday Cakes (Birthday Cake, DL Anniversary Birthday Cake, 4th Anniversary Birthday Cake, 5th Anniversary Birthday Cake, 6th Anniversary Birthday Cake, 7th Anniversary Birthday Cake, 8th Anniversary Birthday Cake, 9th Anniversary Birthday Cake, 10th Anniversary Birthday Cake, 10th and 1/2 Birthday Cake, 11th Anniversary Birthday Cake)
- 11th anniversary and 11 and 1/2 anniversary enemies (Secret Doge, The Doge God, Possessed Doge God and Mysterious Calamity)

Some event enemies have different names in the Enemy Guide from those previously used in event announcements, as listed in the table below.

Trivia[]
- In the original English Version, the Enemy Guide was called the Enemy Dictionary. After registering enough enemies, it would change to the Enemy Encyclopedia, which it is still called in the upper-left corner of the Enemy Guide menu.
- There are many typos and mistranslations that can be found throughout the Enemy Guide, such as Zackie Peng's description missing the apostrophe in "that's".
- Due to character limits, most enemies have slightly different descriptions in The Battle Cats POP!.
- In The Battle Cats POP!, Chief Peng and Dark Emperor Santa appear as regular enemies and thus have their own descriptions.
- Teacher Bun Bun has the shortest description in the Enemy Guide.
- In a previous version of The Battle Cats, Ururun Wolf had the Cat Unit's description, due to a bug.
- Kroxo is the only enemy to have a semicolon in his description.
- The Doge Base, Ghost Doge, Ghost Snache and Ghost Baa Baa are the only enemies in Stories of Legend without descriptions, and the Doge Base is the only one to not be listed in the Enemy Guide at all.
- Each Cat God form speaks in first person in his Enemy Guide entry, implying that he wrote the description himself.
- Even though Value Meal Cat is exclusive to BCEN, there is an empty space for it between Gary Gory and Metal Snache in BCJP's Enemy Guide.
Pre-13.3[]
Version 13.3 overhauled the Enemy Guide by adding most event enemies, type icons and ability icons. There were many oddities and inconsistencies in prior versions, mostly related to enemies' types, which were listed next to their names in parenthesis (e.g., "Two Can was "Two Can (Red/Black)".
- Angel Fanboy was the only enemy whose trait wasn't included. Until Version 12.3, Bun Bun Black's traits were also missing from the English version.
- Bun Bun Black's traits were listed as Floating/Black in the English version, but Black/Floating in other versions.
- Maawth, I.M. Phace, Cli-One and Cosmic Cyclone had their traits listed as "Alien, Floating" rather than "Alien/Floating". Maawth, Cli-One, and Cosmic Cyclone's traits were eventually fixed to be separated by slashes, but I.M Phace's traits were still separated by commas up until 13.3.
- Ursamajor's entry was mistakenly updated to say "Alien/Floating" when Maawth, Cli-One and Cosmic Cyclone were fixed, even though he isn't a Floating enemy.
- Mr. Angel's trait was listed as "Angelic" instead of Angel.
- Cat God and Final Boss Giga-God had their traits listed as "Cool Dude". In actuality, both are considered Traitless.
- Red EnerG's name was stylized as [Red EnerG]. This may have been a leftover from BCJP's Enemy Guide, which puts all enemies' names inside brackets.
- These brackets were also present in earlier versions of BCEN; it's unknown when they were removed.
- Othom's Enemy Guide entry originally didn't mention his Floating trait. This mistake was later repeated with Golem Sunfish.
- The syntax used for Colossus and Behemoth enemies' types was inconsistent throughout the Enemy Guide and varied from unit to unit.
- Baron Seal, Le'Grim, Mega-Mooth and Super Hyppoh, Big Peng Z and Archangel Exiel were listed as "(Trait) (Colossal)".
- J.J. Jackrabbit was listed as "(Red / Colossus)".
- All Colossus enemies added in Version 11.8 and onward were listed as "(Trait) (Colossus)".
- Ragin' Gory, Ultima Beast Naala, Wild Doge, Casaurian Ahirujo, Pterowl Hazuku, Crustaceous Scissorex, Suidae Piggicus and Iguanidae Ibilujon were listed as "(Trait / Behemoth)".
- All Behemoth enemies added from Version 11.6 to Version 12.3 were listed as "(Trait) (Behemoth)".
- Lophiiformes Angaburu was listed as "(Zombie/Floating/Behemoth)", with no spaces between the slashes.
