Filibuster Cat X (Special Cat)

Filibuster Cat X is a Special Cat implemented in Version 8.3 and was unlocked by beating the Filibuster Invasion in Cats of the Cosmos. True Form added in Version 12.0 improves his health, attack power and attack rate, adds Relic targeting as well as gaining immunity to Curse and Surge effects.

Evolution

Evolves into Filibuster Cat Y at level 10.

Evolves into Metafilibuster at level 20 using Behemoth Stones and XP after completing Zero Field.

Strategy/Usage

While Filibuster Cat X is easily stackable on stages that allow stacking units at the beginning and has high range, he is very difficult to stack himself, as he has very low health, long cooldown and can't fend for himself with his slow attack rate. The freeze ability can create a window of opportunity to approach certain dangerous enemies like Master A., Le'boin, and Camelle, but is ultimately niche. Players are likely to pick up far superior counters long before completing COTC 3, and would have developed adequate strategies to fight them off anyways.

True Form

Metafilibuster gains many stat boosts and abilities, but should still not be used as your only crowd controller ever thanks to his still retaining problems from his normal and evolved form. Despite his improved attack rate and damage, his attack animation remains extremely long, making him prone to missing attacks. While the anti-Relic ability is a great bonus considering the scarcity of such units, there are often much better and disposable options to counter them anyway. The immunity to Curse isn't really that useful, as the relics can and will obliterate him once they reach him due to their murderous DPS and damage. The Surge immunity is actually useful against Kappy Jr. and his father and Magamojoe, but you still need to give him special protection to use him against these enemies. He may not be necessary for most Relics and traitless foes thanks to his superior rivals, such as Master Uril, Macho Crystal Cat, Tourist Cat and Jagando Jr., but if you use him alongside Doron, Tourist, and the thunderbolt cannon, or use him with powerful rushers, like Awakened Bahamut Cat and Idi:N2, they actually help those units deal as much damage as possible to M. Ost, Master A., and Camelle. Overall, use him against the right traitless and relic enemies, and he won't be that useless after all.

Appearance

• Normal Form: Looks similar to Filibuster Cat, but with mechanized parts. Charges an energy orb just like Filibuster Cat, but this time the orb is green and sparkles close to firing. Impact creates an explosion field that shatters.
• Evolved Form: All of his limbs as well as the top of his head are now black. Attack animation is the same.
• True Form: An orange hologram of Filibuster Cat X. Attack animation is the same.

Trivia

• Similarly to how Evangelist Cat resembles Frieza from Dragon Ball Z, Filibuster Cat X resembles Frieza's cybernetic "Mecha Frieza" form.
• Metafilibuster may be a reference to the Meta-Coolers introduced in Dragon Ball Z: The Return of Cooler, his coloration specifically being based off of Golden Meta-Cooler. This is supported by how the enemy Metafilibuster's Japanese description says that his power can change the world and how his first stage's English name is A Whole New World, potentially referencing Meta-Cooler's role as one of the Universe Creation Planners.
• Metafilibuster's knockback animation has the hologram glitch slightly. He shares this behavior with enemy counterpart.
• Filibuster Cat X has the longest attack foreswing of all Cat Units, though Curling Cat technically has a longer attack animation overall.
• Unlike the original Filibuster Cat, who freezes almost all enemy types, this unit can only freeze Traitless and eventually Relic enemies.
• Filibuster Cat X is slightly smaller than Filibuster Cat.
• For some reason, Filibuster Cat Y keeps most of his parts mechanized, except for his tail.
