Gloomy Neneko is a Super Rare Cat that was implemented in Version 4.3 and can be unlocked via the Rare Cat Capsule during the Halloween gacha event and Metal Busters. True Form added in Version 11.9 grants the ability Wave Shield.

Strategy/Usage

Normal/Evolved Form

Gloomy Neneko is nearly exactly the same as normal Neneko. Now, she has lower damage in exchange for a higher critical chance. She might be slightly better or worse in places you would use her normal variant, but still, her niche usage is practically nonexistent due to the existence of cats with a lower cooldown or better stats, like Space Cat, Catasaurus, Waitress Cat and Catornado. She doesn't have Sister Act like her original form either, so she's not going to last once you enter mid-game scenarios. As with all Neneko variants, general usage is not recommended.

True Form

At first glance, her true form seems promising since Wave-blockers are incredibly rare and valuable. Unfortunately, Gloomy Neneko's True Form has a series of problems that hinder her overall performance. Firstly, her survivability is questionable as she only has 15k hp and 3 knockbacks. And considering her long cooldown, a Gloomy Neneko can perish quickly and leave you with no protection against Waves. Leveling her with Catseyes can help alleviate that problem, but it's important to note that it's a big investment. Lastly, her True Form is very pricey, costing 5 of each basic Catfruit which can be spent elsewhere. Neneko does however have an ace up her spooky sleeve: range. All of the current non-Uber Wave-blockers rely on either tanking hits or sniping Waves, instead of standing far enough to completely avoid Wave-generating attacks. Neneko can also be used in tandem with Octopus Cat as extra defense for essentially free.

Overall, Costumed Witchy Neneko's niche of a ranged Wave Blocker is that she doesn't get outranged like Octopus Cat, and she has a short enough cooldown to compete with other ranged wave blockers, only losing out in terms of durability. As such, clever use of this unit is necessary, but when done properly, it can trivialize wave stages with terrifiyng ease.

Appearance

• Normal Form: Looks like Neneko. wears a long, solid black dress and a bow. Holds a spiral wand in her left hand. Stands on a box saying “Happy Halloween!” On the front.
• Evolved Form: Now wears a puffy skirt with a different blouse with mini-bat wings on her back. The bow is replaced with a pointy witch hat. She also wears striped, thigh-high socks and the spiral wand is now a star wand. A killer cat is also behind her.
• True Form: Now in full color, with purple and orange designs.
