Grotesque Gallery (変覧会の絵 Hen Ran-kai no E, Weird Painting Exhibition) is the 42nd sub-chapter of Stories of Legend. It was added in the Version 6.4 Update of The Battle Cats on the 13th of September, 2017. This sub-chapter is available up to 4★ difficulty.

Difficulty

A joke of a sub-chapter, these stages should be a breeze, with the possible exception of the last stage. The majority of the stages in Grotesque Gallery mocks the fact that if you follow a correct strategy, this chapter will be incredibly easy, however, if you do not do the stage correctly, you'll be in quite a mess. The best way to go about this sub-chapter is to read the strategies, and you should be able to sweep through it like nothing.

2★ difficulty for this sub-chapter multiplies enemy strength magnifications by 120%
3★ difficulty for this sub-chapter multiplies enemy strength magnifications by 130%.
4★ difficulty for this sub-chapter makes no change to enemy strength magnifications and only allows Special Cats and Rare Cats to be deployed.

New Features

Although not his first appearance in-game, Angel Fanboy makes his first and only appearance in Stories of Legend here.

1-42-2	Surrealist Sins (癒し系地獄絵図, Iyashikei Jigoku Ezu, Heartwarming Hell Painting)	Just a Doge Base. You must destroy it in two minutes or face an insanely buffed Assassin Bear.

1-42-3	Gouache Ghouls (和尚のスケベな水墨画, Oshō no Sukebena Suibokuga, Buddhist Priest's Lascivious Ink Picture)	Angelic Gory and Angel Fanboy spawn at the beginning. Keep them alive for ~66 seconds, then Ms. Signs will clog the enemy limit, allowing you to hit the base safely. Hit it before then and face infinite Angelic Gories, Angelic Sleipnirs and Sunfish Joneses, all insanely buffed.

1-42-4	Death by Dada (一筆三億五千万円, Ippitsu San Oku Senban Go-en, One Stroke 350 Million Yen)	Spawns two Croakleys, then two more when the base is hit, along with a One Horn. Ginger Snaches and Znaches serve as peons throughout. Stage width is significantly short than usual, allowing the Croakleys to easily hit the Cat Base.

1-42-5	Baroque Beasts (ヤンキー宗教画, Yankī Shūkyōgaku, Yankee Religious Paintings)	Teacher Bun Bun spawns immediately while Wall Doges appear at regular intervals. Make it through the line of walls and destroy the base before three minutes, or face a trio of buffed CyberFaces. They can still be defeated with luck or the right lineup.

1-42-6	Atrocious Deco (館長の自画像, Kanchō no Jigazō, Curator's Self-portrait)	Each time the base's health drops by 10%, a strong enemy spawns. Begins with Berserkory, then Razorback, then Bun Bun Symbiote and finally Boraphim with Angelic Sleipnir. Squire Rels also appear to cause boss shockwaves.
