Strategy[]

Hermit's Wave Attacks are extremely dangerous, as it can easily compensate for his very low range and completely nullify traditional meatshielding, which would have been useful against the peons. As such, it would be in one's interests to include numerous Wave-Immune units. Those that can outrange Hermit and are wave immune can work very well in this stage.

Recommended Units[]

  • Fishman Cat: Although there are no Floating enemies in this stage, Fishman's high speed makes it a great option for dealing chip damage with full backswing cooldown. At level 34, Fishman can actually survive one hit from Hermit, and that extra hit can make a significant difference as the battle progresses.
  • Bullet Train: Bullet Train's extreme speed, extra money ability and high single target burst damage can both be useful in this stage. It does require Attack Up combos to actually kill off Doge Dark and Ginger Snache on its own (1000% Doge Darks have 50,000 health each, so for 10%/15%/20%/25% combos to work, Bullet Train needs to be at level 48/46/44/42), but when it does it can eliminate them from play quickly and provide a small income boost. If used correctly, Bullet Train could achieve even more value by hitting the boss.
  • Manic Lion Cat: With extremely high speed and a decently short cooldown, Manic Lion can be used as a pseudo-meatshield, forcing Hermit to attack and catching up just after his attacks cease, effectively perma-stalling him., although it may struggle when peons arrive.
  • Li'l Lion Cat: Li'l Lion is similar to Manic Lion, but trades HP and speed for Wave Immunity.
  • Awakened Musashi: Musashi, being a Wave Immune backliner that can outrange Hermit, is serviceable in absence of other alternatives, as his attack rate s simply too slow for the peons and requires significant support.
  • Dancer Cat - Though initially an unremarkable midranger, Dancer's Wave Immunity and Attack Buff Talents work particularly well with his somewhat short cooldown, able to deliver bursts of area damage that can both hit Hermit and cripple peons.
  • Gloomy Neneko - This elusive unit is perhaps the only non-Uber Wave Shield that can outrange Hermit to completely deny his main source of pushing power.
  • Stone Cat - Stone despawns shortly after attacking, but its high speed, extreme health and Wave Immunity mean it won't fall to any threat as long as it exists. Stone doesn't have full uptime regardless of combos, but still greatly alleviates defensive pressure and offers a good deal of support.
  • Macho Crystal Cat - Macho Crystal's single target attacks inflict knockback and 10-second slow to Traitless enemies with Wave Immunity, high speed, a good deal of health and the Metal trait to ensure it could reach Hermit quickly and fire off the attack. It does require a clear shot to have any impact due to its range, but when it does the unit provides surprisingly high uptime, given its cooldown is only slightly more than double of its slow duration.
  • Tourist - Tourist is an anti-Traitless single target CC unit that is Immune to Knockback, with resistance to Traitless enemies as well as 100% chance to Knockback and Freeze them for 2 seconds on hit. Though easy to overwhelm, Tourist nevertheless is one of the better means to recover ground, and won't be pushed around by Trolly Blogger either, not to mention its potential applications in cheese strategies.
  • Hitman - Hitman is a specialist LD attacker with Massive Damage to Traitless and Wave Immunity. As one of the few stackable DPS units here, Hitman can provide some serious damage at a relatively safe range. Due to its slow attack rate and blindspot, however, it shouldn't be the only attacker, and requires an escort of other units.

Recommended Ubers[]

  • Shadow Gao/D'arktanyan - These Anti-Traitless specialists deal massive damage against their targets and are Immune to Waves. Their offensive focus can completely demolish Hermit, with Shadow Gao having a brief 1-second Freeze as well as Knockback Immunity. They won't solo this stage, but definitely make things much easier.

Strategy 1 (Healer Cheese)[]

Lineup: Gross!!!, Pumpkinpants, Manic Eraser Cat, Healer Cat CC, Lone Cat and Kitten, Pizza Cat, Awakened Bahamut Cat

Cannon: Thunderbolt Cannon

Notes:

  • Do not use the Freeze cannon unless nessecary.

Cannon: Since it may actually destroy your run, a useless one like Waterblast is recommended, just in case it gets activated by accident. You can also use Thunderbolt to freeze Hermit in the event if he breaks free.

The main goal of this strategy is to disable and push away Hermit with Lone Cat and Kitten, while using Healer to further supplement them. Having their True Forms would greatly improve the strategy's consistency and expand the window of opportunity.

Spawn Healer when you hit 400¢, then spawn in Lone Cat and Kitten as soon as you can after that. This timing is extremely important, as if you miss it, Hermit will fire a wave, forcing a restart. Lone Cat and Kitten, due to their higher movement speed, should be slightly in front of Healer by the time they reach Hermit, and will get the first hit in. Healer will follow suit, and the two will eventually push Hermit to the base. When Hermit appears, immediately spawn Manic Macho Legs, and then spam Manic Erasers as soon as Hermit is frozen. Keep spamming these two and the remaining CC units you have to ensure Hermit does not break free, using Thunderbolt if necessary. The extreme wave damage buildup will stunlock peons and prevent them from interfering.

For most players, Awakened Bahamut Cat should be brought along to destroy the base faster and perhaps damage Hermit further if he's still there. If Little Leaguer Cat or another unit which can destroy the enemy base without damaging Hermit is owned, consider bringing them instead of Bahamut. If Awakened Bahamut knocks Hermit Cat back due to damage at the wrong time your freeze units may miss their attacks and Hermit might break free. To save energy, consider bring Little Leaguer, or an Attacks Only unit such as Warlock and Pierre. Alternatively, you can deploy even more CC units to support your existing stack, such as they will cover each other's downtime and stop Hermit promptly even if he does break free. The best way to avoid trouble, though, is to simply spawn your attackers when Hermit is gone.

Strategy 2 (ft. Talented Dancer Cat)[]

Lineup: Sportswoman, Fishman Cat 30+, Manic Mohawk Cat 20, Manic Lion Cat 20+, Manic Island Cat 20+, Maglev Cat 30+, Dancer Cat (Wave Immunity) 30+

Cannon: Breakerblast

Notes: The two empty slots should be dedicated to an attack up (sm) combo, ideally Brave Cutter.

  • The last slot can be a unit of your choice.

Cannon: Breakerblast, a braindead method of pushing hermit away.

Purchasing Dancer Cat's Wave Immune talent provides sustainable damage to the peons. If one Dancer Cat falls, it can be simply replaced by another, rather than relying on the Trolly Bloggers of the stage to perform a knockback to safety, etc. Fighting with Hermit Cat close to your base is recommended, as Manic Mohawk Cat and Fishman Cat can be timed to permanently stall hermit. If you wish to conserve your Dancer Cat stack at a point where Hermit Cat cannot be effectively stalled by Manic Mohawk Cat, then Manic Lion Cat and Fishman Cat can satisfy the job. The peons can be finished off by Maglev Cat, Manic Island Cat, or a filler if Dancer Cat manages a hit in.

Strategy 3 (No Gacha or Talents)[]

Lineup: Manic Mohawk Cat, Macho Crystal Cat, Jellycat 30, Assassin BearCat 30, Courier Cat, Green Shell Cat, Manic Lion Cat 30+, Bullet Train Cat 40, Awakened Bahamut Cat 30, Heroic Musashi 30

Cannon: Breakerblast

Items: Sniper Cat

Notes:

  • The Sniper Cat item is optional.

Items: Sniper Cat (Optional)

Cannon: Breakerblast (any level)

This strategy requires a lot of advent cats, a lot of focus, and a lot of time but it uses no gacha units or NP. Depending on your levels, this fight can take at least fifteen minutes and unfortunately relies a bit on RNG.

Start the battle by not sending anything and luring Hermit close to the base. Upgrade your worker cat to Level 3 and then stop. Send out Manic Mohawk to trigger Hermit's waves and send out another one so it won't get hit by the wave but also will stop Hermit from moving forward. You'll spend most of the fight doing this. You should have enough money to send out Musashi. Make sure that Hermit is close enough to the base so that Musashi doesn't need to move forward too much. Musashi will slowly chip away at Hermit's health over time and may help knock Hermit back a bit at times. Upgrade your worker cat when possible and stop when a peon comes out. A Trolly Blogger will spawn after a bit. When it's near Hermit Cat, send Manic Lion when you would've sent Manic Mohawk. Manic Lion needs to hit the Trolly Blogger twice to kill it and he can survive two waves from Hermit so he is almost guaranteed to take out the Trolly Blogger and stall Hermit. After this, a Ginger Snache will come out and you will need to do something VERY CRUCIAL to winning this fight. When the Ginger Snache gets close, send out Macho Crystal Cat to knock Hermit back and slow him for a little while. Let Ginger Snache hit the base once and then immediately send out a Green Shell Cat. When the Ginger Snache attacks the Green Shell, send out Courier Cat and he'll kill the Ginger Snache with ease. You'll want to periodically do this as it greatly simplifies the process of killing Ginger Snaches. Replace the Green Shell every so often because if the Green Shell charges towards Hermit, he'll send out many waves and protect the peons.

If you decided to use Sniper Cat, start the battle by disabling him before he gets a hit. He will bob up and down about 10 times total before firing a shot so disable him around this time.

Peons will periodically come out and you need to send out the right unit to deal with them. To do so, when a peon gets close to Hermit, don't send out Manic Mohawk but rather send out a cat that counters the peon.

For Ginger Snaches, use Macho Crystal Cat to push back Hermit and, if you have a Green Shell, wait for the Ginger Snache to attack the Green Shell then send out Courier. If you don't have a Green Shell, send out Courier Cat in such a way so that he hits Hermit and the area attack causes him to hit the Ginger Snache too. If your Courier hits the Ginger Snache once and then Hermit finishes your Courier off, use a Bullet Train to kill the Ginger Snache.

For Doge Dark, Assassin Bearcat has a frame-perfect interaction in which he attack Doge Dark and gets attacked at the same time, leading to both of them dying. This sometimes doesn't work so it's best to let Doge Dark attack your Green Shell and then send out Bearcat OR send Bearcat and a Manic Mohawk to tank a hit from Doge Dark.

For Trolly Bloggers, just send out Manic Lion. If Musashi is too far ahead, consider sending a Macho Crystal Cat to keep Hermit at bay and let the Trolly Blogger knock back Musashi a bit.

If more than one Ginger Snache or Doge Dark spawns and you think you can't defend them, send out Slime Cat to deal heavy damage to them and then send out Courier or Bearcat as needed.

To actually kill Hermit, you'll want to cycle A. Bahamuts. The best time to do it is when you meet these three conditions: You've just cleared a wave of peons, your Macho Crystal Cat is ready, and your Breakerblast is ready. If no peons are in the way, send out Bahamut. If you brought Sniper Cat, then wait for Bahamut to hit Hermit then immediately enable your Sniper Cat. Keep Sniper Cat enabled until Bahamut dies so that he might knock Hermit back again. If you didn't bring a Sniper, send out Bahamut and send Macho Crystal Cat a tiny bit later. Bahamut should hit Hermit and the Crystal Cat should knock Hermit back so Bahamut can charge up another hit. If Bahamut hits Hermit again and Hermit does not get knocked back by the damage, use your Breakerblast. Else, don't use your Breakerblast yet but rather use it when Bahamut hits Hermit a third time. When Hermit finally hits Bahamut, he'll get knocked back and then get one final hit on Hermit before dying. This will deal very heavy damage to Hermit and you'll have to do this a few times to kill Hermit. Unfortunately, this will likely cause Musashi to move forward and if no Trolly Bloggers have spawned, Musashi will likely die.

If Miss Sign spawns in, she stands at such a range that she won't affect your Bahamut chains and so you won't need to worry about her.

You will need to focus a lot as one mistake may cause you to lose the whole run. Stay focused and make sure you're not randomly sending out units to ensure the win. If too many peons are at your base and Hermit is walking forward, you can try to use Bahamut to kill the peons and stall Hermit for just a bit longer but this is very risky. When Hermit dies, the peons aren't much of a threat anymore and you can just send out the rest of your units to destroy the base.
