Strategy/Usage[]
Hermit Cat is somewhat like Crazed Gross Cat, but attacks faster and can fire up to three Wave Attacks at a time if all his hits connect. Use him to handle certain bosses from a distance by hitting the peons and letting the waves hit the boss. The Wave Attack covers a range of 735, being able to reach even Director Kurosawah. He also has the valuable niche of being a wave unit usable in 4 Crowns, but he faces fierce competition from Slime Cat, who is significantly more disposable.
Unfortunately, Hermit's standing range is terrible, meaning you'll have to consider his deployment with care if you want to make the best of his ability.
True Form[]
Masked Grandmaster Cat gains specialization against Relics through the Strong ability, curse immunity and the ability to curse them. With his DPS and waves, he can deliver heavy damage to Relics all the while causing a lot of trouble to supporting peons and, possibly, Relic backliners. His curse will rarely help due to his range and the low activation chance, but he doesn't need it, as his strong ability and better recharge will make him a threat to several common Relics. Unfortunately, his range still often binds him, as all it takes is for a Relic to have more than 255 range (that isn't Loris) to render Masked Grandmaster Cat a waste of money. It is therefore better to use him when there are stepping stones such as Metals, burrowing Zombies, and short ranged peons. A prime example is Soul in the Idol, where you can abuse the Metal Hippoes to stack Hermits and chip Dogumaru while avoiding its 700 range omni strike.
Relics aside, his general performance as a Wave Attacker is also vastly improved in this form, thanks to his longer waves, higher health and shorter recharge.

Appearance[]
- Normal Form: An elderly, humanoid cat holding a staff. Attacks by jumping into the air, landing a punch, a kick and lastly smashing enemies with the staff.
- Evolved Form: Now has big bushy eyebrows and gains a decoration resembling the 30th floor of the Heavenly Tower atop the staff. The size of his forehead has increased more than twofold.
- True Form: Now in full color with a bit of shading, although most of his body remains covered in white fur. His staff consists of a brown stick with a golden top. A maroon-coloured cat mask now covers his face, but his beard can still be seen under the mask. Forehead is back to normal size.

Trivia[]
- Hermit Cat is a reference to Korin from the Dragon Ball series. Just like Korin, he is a cat who lives on top of a Giant Tower, carries a walking stick, and is deceptively powerful.
- The mame daifuku mentioned in Hermit Cat's Japanese description is a sweet rice cake with azuki beans or soybeans mixed into it.
- Masked Grandmaster Cat's mask greatly resembles that of Grandpa Gohan, another character from Dragon Ball.
- Masked Grandmaster Cat looks closer to Hermit Cat than to Grandmaster Cat, as his forehead is normal-sized behind the mask. This is a BCEN-specific inconsistency - his Japanese name is Masked Hermit Cat.
