Higher Score is a No Continues stage in Challenge Battle, a mini-game unlocked after completing Chapter 1 of Empire of Cats. Two new enemies debut here: Shy Boy and Assassin Bear. It had its own button in the Main Menu until Version 6.2, when it was temporarily removed from the game. As of Version 6.3, Challenge Battle is found at the end of the "Special Stages" list in Legend Stages.

Strategy[]

Strategy 1[]

Lineup: Wall Cat, Brave Cat, Sexy Legs Cat, Mythical Titan Cat, True Valkyrie Cat

Notes: Remaining slots can be filled with Area Attackers, 2 anti-Reds and 2 anti-Floatings; Valkyrie can be replaced by an Uber Rare Cat.

Spam Wall Cats to kill the Squire Rels that spawn every few seconds. When there are enough Wall Cats, they will damage the enemy base. Stop spamming Walls once they reach the base, because if there are too many, the Kang Roos won't get past and Assassin Bear will make his appearance right then and there. After dealing 1,000 damage to the base, Kang Roos will pour out by the dozens (6 or so at once, then the rest 1 by 1 with time between them) and eventually kill all the Wall Cats. Do NOT use the Cat Cannon yet.

The player can upgrade their Worker Cat to level 8 by now. Keep spamming Wall Cats, but also spam Brave Cats and Sexy Legs Cats, and spawn Valkyrie in the middle. The other Cats will protect her, and Valkyrie will make short work of the Kang Roos. You are then free to attack the enemy base. Once it is at 90,000 HP, Assassin Bear will come out. He only has 550 HP, so fire the Cat Cannon to kill him in one hit before he wipes out all your Cats. Also, when Assassin Bear comes out, you might find Valkyrie dead. Right after Assassin Bear dies, Those Guys will be spammed for the rest of the battle, and two Mooths come to support them. Spawn your Mythical Titan Cat, along with some support (e.g. your anti-Floating Cats) now. Keep spamming Wall Cat, Brave Cat, and Sexy Legs Cat. Eventually, the Mooths will die.

It can be hard damaging the base because of the spammed Those Guys. If you're having trouble, spam Wall Cats and your Area Attacker (or just Giraffe Cat). Wall Cat will stop all of the Those Guys, and the Area Attacker will kill them all in one blow. Next comes a Shy Boy, who can be treated like a much faster One Horn. It's recommended to use a Whale Cat to make things easier against him. Spam everything you have until Shy Boy is dead. You are (again) free to attack the enemy base. When the castle's HP goes down to 60,000, the music will change into the music that occurs in the Empire of Cats Moon/Iriomote stages. The Face will spawn, with two Shy Boys as support. These Shy Boys attack and move in sync, so it's like one buffed Shy Boy!

Spam everything you have. Once the Shy Boys are dead, stop spamming Brave Cats and Sexy Legs Cats. Stop using your Cat Cannon against The Face once he takes one knockback. The Face is likely low on HP now. When The Face is dead, attack the enemy base. When the base's HP falls to 10,000, Assassin Bear will show up once again. Use the Cat Cannon to kill him, then finish off the enemy base.

Trivia[]

  • Before it was moved to Legend Stages, Challenge Battle's unit costs were the same as in Empire of Cats Chapter 1 (50% less than usual).
  • Challenge Battle can be considered the first stage in the game to contain a Black enemy, although Assassin Bear was originally Traitless.
  • Despite being present in both The Battle Cats POP! and mobile versions, Challenge Battle is absent from The Battle Cats Unite!, however, it appears in the game files and is the unused 49th stage in each Main Chapter.
