Hyperberserker (Insane) is the only stage in The Malevolent Axe, which is unlocked after clearing Mount Aku/Mount Fuji in The Aku Realms. This is a No Continues stage.

  • 1 Wicked Face spawns after 40 seconds1,200f.
  • 3 Aku Gories spawn after 113.33 seconds3,400f, delay 66.67~73.33 seconds2,000f~2,200f.
  • 1 Malevolent Dark Cat spawns as the boss after 13.33 seconds400f.

Strategy[]

This stage is filled to the brim with a wide variety of hard-pushing Aku threats, consisting of one dangerous midranger, a backliner, and many, many melee units. With everything spawning on a short timer and the stage itself lacking any reliable income, the only way past this is brute force and a Rich Cat. Helpful Ubers, if owned, can also greatly contribute to the fight, so don't forget to include them.

Recommended Units[]

  • Maize Cat - An excellent meatshield in this stage, Maize Cat's resistance against Aku works very well as every enemy in the stage are within its target traits. Its Curse Immunity dismisses Malevolent Dark Cat's primary ability, allowing it to continue holding the front as your remaining units rain fire from behind. Maize Cat works best with research combos, putting its very high durability to great use. Its only notable weakness is its lack of Surge Immunity
  • Stone Cat - Stone's extreme health as well as Slow/Surge/Wave Immunity ensures nothing gets past during its brief lifetime. It is often useful as a defensive support option, and is best combined with research combos to increase its uptime in case if your other meatshields fail.
  • Barrel Cat/Cat Researcher - Go-to specialists for removing shields known for their reliability, they can be used to significantly reduce Malevolent Dark Cat's durability and render it vulnerable to CC effects, especially considering its tough shield fully regenerates each time it gets knocked back. However, both have their drawbacks. Cat Researcher is very fragile, can be destroyed by Surges, and its single target means peons can stop it from hitting Malevolent Dark Cat. Barrel, being reliant on its LD, can't outrange Malevolent Dark Cat, so a small shift in the frontline will likely result in Malevolent Dark Cat destroying it immediately.
  • Esoteric Uril - Esoteric Uril is a great choice if playing this stage Uberless, having both Slow and Curse against Aku's. With Slow he can stop the advancement of Malevolent Dark and the other Aku peons, and Curse letting you be able to use Cactus if you don't have Cone.Uril also has Curse and Surge immunity to top him off. But, even with all this said, Uril still has some small drawbacks. The first issue that he has is about how you obtain, since climbing up the Infernal Tower is pretty hard for some players, but this is only a small issue since by the time you play this, you probably completed Uncanny Legends at this point and have the UL legends true forms to tear apart the final floor of the Infernal Tower. Another small issue is that Uril doesn't have Shield Piercing, meaning you will have to bring a dedicated Shield Piercer to break Malevolent Dark's shield for Uril to CC it.

Recommended Ubers[]

  • Devil Hunter Satoru - A powerful LD CC unit with Surge Immunity, Satoru has 50% chance to destroy shields, and should his hit connect, it'll delay the threats by causing knockback and slowing them for 6 seconds, which can be all the difference you make as he helps recovering ground.
  • Kasli the Bane - A backline LD attacker built for damage, her curse ability can completely shut down Malevolent Dark Cat's main gimmick once its shield comes down, allowing Cactus free reign. Her Surges are indeed duped by Malevolent Dark Cat without the shield, and while she is immune to them, using her requires a dedicated formation that can fully dismiss these surges.
  • Lucifer - With his strong ability against Aku, Surge Immunity and the ability to generate an equally powerful level one surge, Lucifer's LD attacks can put a serious dent to anything he hits at a great range. While surge duplication generally isn't an issue, he does have a very large blindspot that one must account for.

Trivia[]

  • Hyperberserker is a Merciless stage in BCJP, but is only Insane in BCEN.
  • Prior to Version 13.0, the enemy base had 800,000 HP instead of 2,500,000.
