Strategy/Usage[]
Jurassic Cat's Critical Hit ability makes it ideal against Metal enemies. The chance is immensely low, at a measly 5%, but this is offset by its quick recharge time and attack rate, which allow stacks to build up and tens of hits to come out in quick succession. However, even against Metal enemies, it might not be useful at times: most of the stronger Metal enemies, such as Super Metal Hippoe and Sir Metal Seal outrange it in its Normal and Evolved forms. Due to the low range and damage against any other traits, its use should be limited to Metal foes, but it is not a complete waste of a slot if brought as a precaution in a stage where Metals turn out not to appear, as its health (particularly in True Form) and spammability make it a passable improvised meatshield.
Since Jurassic Cat tends to get knocked back by Super Metal Hippoe and Sir Metal Seal before it can hit them, don't rely on it as your only Critical Hitter in stages like Fish Hell, Dead Falls and Utopia is Over There; support it with longer-ranged Critters that can land attacks on these enemies more consistently, such as Space Cat.
It also has easily accessible and universally useful Cat Combos that should not be ignored.
True Form[]
Catasaurus gains improved health, attack power, range and Critical Hit chance. The range, by going from 150 to 180, is actually a big improvement, as it now allows Catasaurus to outrange both Sir Metal Seal and Super Metal Hippoe. The other stat boosts and better Crit chance further increase survivability and the kill power of a stack, making this unit considerably more consistent and capable of standing up to just about any metal enemy if properly supported. Catasaurus can be a good unit to deal with enemies like Doge Dark if there are 2-3 of them, so it's quite a good unit to send out onto the battlefield in the early period of a stage, depending on which one you are playing, of course.
Talents[]
Critical chance up is by far the most important talent, as it is both a big and cheap improvement to Catasaurus' offensive power and reliability against Metal enemies. Its Cost Down talent also reduces the strain on your wallet, which is very important in Metal-heavy stages in general. Resist Knockback is incredibly useful against Super Metal Hippoe, allowing Catasaurus stacks to immediately come back after a reduced knockback, as well as slowing the Hippoe's pushing power if the meatshields fall, but its worth may be questionable due to being irrelevant against any other Metal enemy and them not being able to reposition as easily, especially when other threats such as Sir Metal Seal get mixed in with Super Metal Hippoe. The stat buffs and the Talent Orb slot can easily combine with a good base level and allow Catasaurus to still form stacks against buffed Metal enemies and quickly kill even the toughest Metal Seals around.
Orb[]
Defense Up against Metal. Nothing else would make sense. Catasaurus specializes against Metal enemies, and Defense Up is the only type of Talent Orb for Metal.

Trivia[]
- Prior to Version 4.7, Jurassic Cat was a part of two other Cat Combos: Baby on Board and Childs Play.
- Catasaurus is currently the only unit with a Talent that caps at level 5. Consequentially, it is the only unit with a Talent that costs a mere 25 NP to fully upgrade.
- The Japanese descriptions of Jurassic Cat Sitter and Catasaurus imply that each of Jurassic Cat's forms is a descendant of the last.
- Jurassic Cat is an example of the Rock Beats Laser trope, using extremely primitive weaponry to land Critical Hits on cyborgs augmented with far more advanced technology.
- Jurassic Cat's Spanish name, Ronronícola, is a pun on ronron, the Spanish onomatopoeia for a cat's purr, and cavernícola, the Spanish word for caveman.
- In spite of Jurassic Cat's description, there were no cats in the Jurassic Period. The oldest fossil of a remotely cat-like creature is around 30 million years old, while the Jurassic Period ended 145 million years ago.
- Catasaurus resembles and references Yoshi from the Super Mario games: its description says "Discovered a cute dinosaur in a magical land of fungi", alluding to the Mushroom Kingdom. When jumping, the dinosaur moves its feet for extra time in the air when attacking, just like Yoshi. It is also interesting to note that when knocked back, the dinosaur's tongue can be seen, which further supports its resemblance with Yoshi.
