- This article is about the Cat Unit. For the enemy, see Kiss and Koi (Enemy).
Koi Cat is a Rare Cat that was implemented in Version 2.2.5 and can be unlocked when beating any stage in Love is Sickness. Its True Form, which was added in Version 5.0, greatly increases speed and gains Area Attack. In The Battle Cats POP!, it was made obtainable in the Rare Cat Capsule after clearing Stage 48 in Chapter 1.

Strategy/Usage[]
Koi Cat is similar to Salon Cat, but with some major drawbacks. Less damage, less health, single target, but at a lower cost. These issues render him outright useless besides the fact that he is part of some surprisingly good Cat Combos, as explained below.
Koi Cat's role is a Combo slave, meaning you only bring him into battle for the Combos. Seasons of Love and Team of Two are both quite strong. The former is very useful and can be combined with Lion King and Three Kings, allowing you to have three strong Cat Combos. This is his only use, but it gives him a purpose, empowering Cats with Strong against abilities by wide margin against their targeted traits.
True Form[]
Kiss and Koi receive Area Attack! This would allow their DPS to be even remotely salvageable, if not for the fact that they had a massive speed increase. This causes them to rush into the battlefield and die. In trade off for being able to attack multiple times, they can now attack groups, but first off, that's not an ideal tradeoff for a unit so weak, and second, nothing was fixed.
The only time Kiss and Koi may be useful is when paired with Cat Combos to rush down Hannya, but not using them in battle would be a better idea. The speed increase is only a drawback, and that, plus the lack of new Combos makes Kiss and Koi even worse than their Evolved form.

Appearance[]
- Normal Form: Cat with a pinwheel riding a crawling, cat-faced koi banner. Attack has the Koi Cat slap enemies with a freakishly long arm.
- Evolved Form: Cat with a noisemaker drum riding a really tall four-legged Koi Cat. The Koi Cat feverishly scampers on the ground with its legs while walking, almost as if it's gliding across it.
- True Form: Koi Cat is now colorful with different colored spots. The cat is now holding a longer banner with windsocks resembling the Koi itself. Koi Cat also seems to be flying to some capacity.

Trivia[]
- Koi Cat looks like a decorative koi banner (鯉のぼり, koinobori). This type of decoration is often seen in Japan around Golden Week, in honor of Children's Day.
- This may also be the reason for the long legs of the Evolved and True Forms, as the koinobori banners are hung up high on a pole, which slightly resembles the legs.
- Koi means both "love" and "carp" in Japanese, therefore the design of the cat include a koi banner (which is designed to be carp-like), the unit is in Seasons of Love and Kiss and Koi's description mentions love.
- Koi Cat's Japanese name, Maji de Koishiteru, is a reference to the song "Maji De Koi Suru 5byoumae" by Ryōko Hirosue.
