SWITCH EXCLUSIVE This feature is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version of The Battle Cats |
Mallet Cat is a Special Cat exclusive to the Nintendo Switch Version of The Battle Cats. In the Japanese Version, Mallet Cat was initially introduced with the release of VS Mode and could be obtained via the Official Limited Time Edition The Battle Cats Unite Combo Case. A Package Version Bonus was later introduced, containing Mallet Cat once more for players who were unable to obtain the combo case. In the Southeast Asia Version, players who obtained the physical Package Version Bonus received Mallet Cat for free. In Version 1.0.6, Mallet Cat gained Zombie typing, giving it the ability to knockback Zombies.
Note: Redeeming the Package Version Bonus serial code in JP or inserting the physical cartridge in SEA will allow it to be shared upon multiple Nintendo Switch accounts.
Note: You will need 4 MB of free space in order for it to be downloaded in your Nintendo Switch system.

Strategy/Usage[]
Mallet Cat has the range of most melee units, giving it many bad matchups towards traited enemies that can out range your melee cats. Since the purpose of this cat is to crowd control via knockback, its pathetic range, recharge, and TBA make it unbearable to use outside of the Empire of Cats chapter given how many enemies can rush or outrange against Mallet Cat. This unit, however, has some strong uses in Cats of the Cosmos if you can stack as many Mallet Cats as possible; due to Cyclones appearing at the final chapter, Mallet Cat can be proven useful in supplementing crowd control as it can outrange all four cyclones. After that, Mallet Cat can be stowed away to collect dust forever.

Trivia[]
- A harisen is a Japanese paper fan most commonly used in manzai comedy, in which the tsukkomi (the short-tempered "straight man" who takes things seriously) may hit the boke (the airheaded "funny man" who gets everything wrong) on the head with a harisen in response to their jokes or idiocy. The term tsukkomi, also used in Harisen Cat's Japanese description, refers to when the secondary comedian "butts in" on their partner's act by reacting to, pointing out, or calling out their ridiculousness.
- This is the only cat unit in any version of The Battle Cats to change color depending on the player. In the VS and Play Together modes of The Battle Cats Unite!, Player 1's Mallet Cat has a red headband and mallet, which are blue for Player 2's Mallet Cat. For Harisen Cat, his tracksuit and his harisen's pivot are what change color. In single player, it will always be red.
