Strategy/Usage[]
There are two things stopping Marauder Cat's Normal Form from being useful as a Critical Hitter or at all- pathetic base stats, and Single Target. However, his Evolved Form both doubles his Critical chance and gains Area Attack, along with a slight increase of base stats. With that being said, it is recommended you invest in his True Form if you want a good anti-Metal unit. His stats are downright terrible outside of his niche, so there's no use bringing him to stages with no Metals, though he otherwise would be an effective counter.
True Form[]
Paladin Cat gains an increase in base stats, a higher Critical chance and Immunity to Knockback, improving his overall effectiveness within his niche but not opening up any new doors. However, because Paladin Cat has Immunity to Knockback, Super Metal Hippoe becomes his bane; as his immunity prevents him from repositioning himself in battle. On the other hand, Paladin Cat's attack will no longer be interrupted, so this ability isn't a total downgrade.
Talents[]
Paladin's Talents begin with the freeze ability, followed by Zombie Killer, slow immunity, and general stat boosts. At first glance, you may think that freezing Metal is a great ability! And it would be, if its activation chance wasn't a crippling 30%, and the freeze didn't last only 2~2.4 seconds when maxed, not nearly enough to carry into his attack rate and attack animation. Therefore, do not invest in it, as it will only ever be extra support; which is already done better by Puppetmaster & Charley, Hoopmaster Cat and Talented Lollycat. Even if it does work, Paladin will often kill Metals outright, defeating the purpose of the ability.
Zombie Killer is useless for Paladin Cat, as he is a pure Critter and has no other redeeming qualities; although intended to work on March to Death, the only Zombie there is Daboo of the Dead, whom Paladin Cat has no hope of killing on his own. Immune to Slow is just as situational, as there are almost no stages where it can even be used at all.
Level 1 Attack Buff is actually worth the NP if Paladin Cat himself has also been upgraded to level 50, in which case his Critical damage will increase just enough to knockback the 300% Sir Metal Seals found in many late-game stages. Investing any further, however, is only good if you don't have a high-level Catasaurus or any other Critical Hitters that you may use more often than Paladin Cat.

Trivia[]
- Berserker Cat is modeled after the gaming magazine Famitsu's mascot, Necky the Fox, as described in Nyanko Ecology Report Large Edition. Though at first they would appear to lack any visual similarities, Necky is depicted in a different costume every time he appears on the magazine's cover art, with many of the costumes including dark clothing, a sword, and/or medieval armor.
- Berserker Cat also looks like Guts (from the Japanese manga Berserk) in Berserker Mode.
- Berserker Cat's nickname, "Dark Metal Knight", could be referencing Dark Meta Knight, a recurring boss in the Kirby series.
- Paladin Cat's weapon looks like a combination of several weapons used by Kingdom Hearts' Organization XIII: it has Axel's Chakrams, Vexen's Shield, Lexaeus's Axe, Larxene's Knives, and Xaldin's Lances. Paladin Cat himself also shares some similarities with the Twilight Thorn Nobody.
- Paladin Cat has the highest sub-100% Critical chance in the game, at 50%.
- Paladin Cat's True Form evolution description claims that he is granted “Resistance to enemy attack’s knockback”, when in reality, he gains a full immunity to knockback.
- This may be because Immune to Knockback was originally named Resist Knockback.
- There is a typo in Paladin Cat's Talents screen: it says “Freeeze” instead of freeze.
