Medal King Cat (Special Cat)

JAPANESE EXCLUSIVE This feature is exclusive to the Japanese version of The Battle Cats but it may also appear in other versions such as BCTW and BCKR!

Medal King Cat is a Special Cat that can be obtained by playing the House of the Medal King Cat Gacha during the 11th anniversary. He was added in Version 13.0.

Strategy/Usage

Medal King Cat can be treated as an arguably worse version of Slug Jockey Cat. The two share range and fairly low overall stats, however Slug Jockey has Area Attack, faster attack rate, shorter foreswing, quicker speed, lower cost and shorter recharge. The only real advantage this unit has is a Surge Attack, which doesn't increase the slow uptime enough to be worthwhile. In fact, Medal King Cat's Surge and slightly better damage actually work against him, making it harder to stack him on peons like Slug Jockey can.

Medal King Cat's slow is just too short to make any impact, and may even make things worse if used in conjunction with other slowers. For example, if Macho Crystal Cat slows an enemy, and then Medal King Cat hits that same enemy, the enemy will be slowed for 1 second instead of 10 seconds. Even if the surge hits a backliner enemy, it won't have much impact. Backliner enemies usually rely on high damage or abilities to make things tough for the cats, neither of which slow can prevent, unlike Weaken or Freeze.

Appearance

• Normal Form: A kingly-looking Cat with glasses and a crown on his head. The crown has a Legend Mini Medal on top. He has also got a cloak on. Attacks by pulling out a sword and slicing it onto the enemy.

Trivia

• Medal King Cat and the Legend Mini Medals used to play the House of the Medal King Cat Gacha are a direct reference to the Dragon Quest series' Medal Kings and the Mini medals they collect. In particular, Medal King Cat resembles Medford, the Medal King from Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation.
• Great Medal King Cat's sword bears some similarities to Erdrick's Sword from the Dragon Quest series, particularly the hilt.
• The 11 years and 11 trillion yen in his Japanese descriptions are, of course, referring to how Medal King Cat was released during the 11th anniversary.
