I see. I’m not good with people, though I do comment and reply on occasion. For whatever reason, I’ve started updating the Talents page - as well as the Cats and Enemies templates - regularly following updates.
My User page says everything about my current progress. I’m technically in UL, but I haven’t gone past Relic Bun because I’m more focused on getting SoL Stars. I have no immediate need for advice, but I’ll let you know if that changes.
I still star my units based on how well they were rated on the Uber Tier List, with anything rated B+ or above getting a star. It’s not a 1:1 reflection of which Ubers I find useful or not. As such, a few Ubers that I like and still (try to) use every so often don’t have stars (Kaguya, Cosmo), while some Ubers that I dislike or have no reason to use get stars anyway (Thundia, Ganesha).
As for Mekako in particular, she may or may not be a good backline tank, but she seems to compare extremely unfavorably to Sakura Matou, who I also have.
Well despite not being a good unit guile still has some good things. He has average movement combined with useful crowd controll abilities at 100%. If you are pushing an enemy back then you don't really need a support cat do you? I guess you can undo my revision but give reasoning
I’m not sure you could call Guile’s average movement a pro, considering his stats and abilities don’t allow him to take advantage of it. As a rush tank, he doesn’t stand close enough nor have enough health to shield against anything that isn’t Floating. As a mid-range tank, his health is still too low, and his debuffs won’t make up the difference because of the chance of multi-hit ruining it. Even if the first hit in his combo could inflict status, it still wouldn’t be enough to justify him considering anti-Floating Rares and Supers already control most Floating by themselves, and Guile doesn’t have the qualifications to be used against the few Floating they don’t trivialize.
The idea that Guile doesn’t need to inflict status on enemies who get pushed by his first hit is hard to wrap my head around. Brollow would be completely unfazed by Guile unless they were so buffed that he couldn’t knock them back with the first hit, and the Bun-Bun variants could also greatly benefit from Guile’s shortcoming due to their many knockbacks.
Finally, though this should go without saying, Guile lacks any noteworthy features other than his abilities, so there’s no chance of him being a generalist.
Feel free to disagree with my lecture, either partially or in full. You’re also free to do what you will to Guile’s page. I’m not about to declare an edit war over an Uber who’s already out of style.
wIt wasn't my intention to declare war over an uber
Guile is rly bad but I think of him as more of a ranged support rather than a tank. He has great abilities against floating and decent hp for a support. He has features thatmay make mhim look like a tank but I consider him a short ranged support with some backup hp
Yes well if you are pushing something back then how much do you need support? I would not use any support is I was pushong a bun bun back. The only concern then would be if he was being pushed bacck on the base and your stack dies
I suppose you could technically use Guile as a tanky mid-range attacker/support, but he’s not really that durable against anything that isn’t Floating, and his multi-hits are so tightly grouped that he’s very likely to lose half his DPS (plus slow + weaken) against all but tanky, low KB enemies.
Dedicated mid-range tanks like King Gamereon and Sakura Matou massively outperform him in both a tank and tanky support sense.
In any case, apologies if I come across as confrontational or rude. I heard earlier that some idiot was using alt accounts to heckle you, but as far as I’m aware you don’t cause any trouble yourself.
That’s strange. I don’t remember editing Guile’s page to label him as completely useless.
As of this sentence, I finally took a look at Guile’s page, and I’m unsure why you undid my revision. The Stats are back to an unfinished state, and his Pros and Cons also do a poor job of grading his performance. Ignoring the fact that they are largely a copy/paste of the incomplete Stats previously mentioned, his multi-hits are back to being labeled as an unconditional Pro. Multi-hit is a highly nuanced mechanic, and there is a world of difference between beneficial multi-hits (Gaia, Reika) and detrimental multi-hits (Gilgamesh, Akuma). Guile’s multi-hits are too tightly grouped to hit enemies twice if they are KB’d by the first, and since only his second hit inflicts status, it goes beyond just cutting his effective DPS in half.
It’s one thing for you to believe that Guile’s multi-hit doesn’t interfere with his ability to handle Floating enemies, but it’s another to omit its mention from the page. I’m still done with the page so long as your reversion stands, but someone else notice the current state of the page and decide to update it themselves. Should that happen, please don’t do another total reversion of the page if the Pros and Cons are unflattering.
I did a check up on Guile’s page and noticed you brought back the up to date Stats. Thanks for that. You also did your own tweaks to the Pros and Cons, which is alright.
No need to apologize, but please be careful when handling edits you disagree with in the future. Check to make sure there’s anything worth keeping before throwing everything out. The ‘compare selected revisions’ feature is very useful for that kind of thing.
You seem to be quite knowledgeable when it comes to Talents, so I figured you'd be a good person to ask about this.
I'm thinking of editing the "List of Units with Talents" section of the Talents article so that all the Talents are listed next to each unit's name, and to sort units by ID instead of when their Talents were added (just like the True Form article), but I'd like to get your approval on this first. Here's what the Rare Cats section would look like:
While we're on the subject of Talents, do you think that there should be a single "Cats with Talents", category for all cats with Talents, a category for each Talent (e.g., Cats with Defense Buff Talent, Cats with Attack Buff Talent), or that we should just add the cat articles to existing categories (e.g., add the Cats with Extra Money ability and Anti-Alien Cats to Hip Hop Cat's article)?
First I'd like to preface this by saying that I'm not some Talent guru. I just noticed that the wiki was moving a bit slow and uncoordinated in regards to documenting Talents, so I decided to move the process along with the DB as my guide. I am also not knowledgeable in growing or maintaining a wiki, nor datamining games to acquire and verify information firsthand, so feel free to take this advice with a grain of salt.
If organizing Talent units by order and adding their Talents after their names will make the page better fit with the rest of the wiki, then it makes sense to go for the change.
As for categories, I think we should have a category for any unit that has a Talent, as well as for the abilities that were introduced alongside Talents. However, I believe that splitting individual abilities into separate categories based on whether they are baked in or unlocked via Talents would be a mistake on the same level as creating additional categories for unit abilities that unlock via True Form.
On the same note, I would caution against labelling partial resistances as Talent specific in the categories, as we have no way of knowing whether they will stay exclusive to Talents in the future. Conversely, I am reasonably confident that Talent buffs won't suddenly be appended to any unit whose stats are increased by form change, so they should be named as such to avoid confusion with natural growth or gameplay tweaks. Here are the categories as I would name them:
I've noticed that some pages for cats with Talents still don't have updated Categories. If you have made a final determination on the Category names for each Talent ability, I would be willing to add the appropriate Categories myself.
I have added the appropriate Categories for all remaining units. I double checked to make sure they're all listed in order as well, though I couldn't help but notice that in Cataur's case, 'Anti-Zombie Cats' and 'Zombie Killer Cats' are in eachother's spot.
No problem. Now that we've got a proper, mod approved system for updating the Talents page and Talented units, it shouldn't be trouble for me to maintain when each update comes out. That way you don't have to take on the grunt work in addition to your other responsibilities.
I do have one last question though. When Warp Resistant/Partially Resist Warp finally gets implemented, should its category be named Resist Warp Cats, similar to how the lesser version of of Shockwave resilient Cats is Resist Wave Cats?
I took a cursory glance at EBF’s Steam and TV Tropes pages and it does seem like something I could get into. If I weren’t broke as hell, I might’ve started playing it now since I haven’t got much else on my plate at the moment.
Maybe #4 might be able to run on your computer... it’s nearly as good and it worked on my cruddy windows 7 laptop so it may work on your computer better
It is notable that loading the game up takes a while though
I managed to find a workaround. After talking about flash player with my brother, I learned that there exists an application on Android that lets you run flash player on phones and tablets, and I was able to find the same thing on iOS. Now I can run EBF5 on the highest settings with no hiccups, on a tablet that is a fraction of the size of my inadaquate PC.
I haven't done too much yet, but I did discover Satan by accident so that was cool.
UPDATE: Nevermind to playing on mobile, the flash browser I found doesn't even have the decency of storing save data, and there's no way I can change it to my knowledge.
