First of all, I lost my 0/8 Warrior I had before and made a new Wizard character. I lost the Warrior 6 days ago. No big deal.
Alright, here's what happened:
I was just wandering around the Godlands as usual, minding my own business, when I saw an entrance to the Abyss of Demons. It was literally just about to vanish, so I decided to go in there. I've never done anything harder than an Undead Lair and I'm aware that going into an Abyss as a 0/8 is a bad idea, but I went in there anyways.
I was going to wait around the first room until someone else made it to the boss room, then teleport there. I was impatient, however, so after, like, 30 seconds, I decided to go into the next room.
I didn't get much time to look at that room, but there wasn't that much going on in there. Just a few normal enemies that I could defeat by standing back and firing from a distance.
Another player was coming from one of the later rooms of the Dungeon and was headed towards the room that I was in. I assumed that he was going to help me. Ha, ha, ha, ha, no...
This guy had a truly massive swarm of enemies trailing behind him, and they were all headed towards me. There were, like, 20 - 25 enemies in that one group. I ended up dying before I even had a chance to notice what was going on. If you've ever played the stage Benzene Field, you probably know what happens there if you release all 10 Bores at once, right? This was basically the same thing, but in Realm of the Mad God.
By the way, you'll find my character over here. Right now, all you see is a level 1 0/8 Knight, but I can assure that the Wizard I just lost had the following equipment:
A T2 Ring (I know it's terrible, but hey, I didn't find any better Rings before I died]
Inventory items included SPD Potion x2, WIS Potion x2, DEX Potion x2 and DEF Potion x2.
You know, all of those items are things I could probably get back fairly easily, except for the DEF Potions. Those are definitely going to take some time to get back. Combine those two DEF Potions with the five my Warrior had and the one in a Gift Chest in my vault, and I could have been 8/25 of the way to having maxed DEF.
Oh, well, it could have been worse. Again, my character was 0/8. If it was 1/8 or more, I'd probably be more annoyed, but 0/8? That's not too big of a loss.
Also what is in your vault chest. I recommend keeping the defense potions in your vault and if you get 6-7 buy a life potion. Then later when you have 3 sell each one for 8 def and drink them. It’s a good idea if you only have 1 vault chest because life and def both take 1 slot.
He was a Wizard with a T9 Staff, a T4 Ability, a T11 Robe, a T3 Ring and several other valuable items in his inventory. Things were looking pretty good for me; I was getting my first stat potions, I was killing my first Gods, I got over 200 Fame for the first time, etc. I was thinking "Wow, I'll never be able to lose this character!" Oh, if I only knew...
I was in the Godlands farming Gods when someone killed a Medusa. It dropped an entrance to the Snake Pit. I went in there with several other players, thinking "I've beaten this at least 2 times before. What's the worst that could happen?" Everything, that's what.
I was impatient and wasn't willing to go through the whole Dungeon room by room, so I teleported to the only player who wasn't at the start, a Knight.
I ended up inside a room that had, well, a lot of snakes inside it. I think there were about 5 or 6 of the Greaterones, and a TON of smallerones. The Knight I teleported to was already in the next room and no one else had made it that far yet, so I was alone. Anyways, there was a crazy amount of projectiles on the screen, more than I could ever hope to dodge, and I was taking lots of damage. I wasn't paying much attention to my health because I was thinking I could kill all the enemies before it would be a problem. After all, this Dungeon hadn't given me too much trouble in the past. When I finally noticed that my health was getting low, instead of teleporting to the Nexus or healing like any normal player would do, I tried escaping into the previous room.
That room was also filled to the brim with enemies.
I died there.
In hindsight, teleporting there was a terrible idea from the beginning, for several reasons:
That Knight was probably just going to kill Stheno before I could even collect the loot. Even if that wasn't the case, was 1 Speed Potion and the possibility of a slightly better equipment piece really worth the risk?
Knights are pretty tanky, right? You can assume that the reason why he was getting through the Dungeon so quickly is because he was just walking past most of the enemies rather than killing them. So I should have already expected the spot I teleported to to be filled with enemies.
Those Snakes may not be too bad on their own, but in groups, they can cause a lot of damage, especially to a fragile class like the Wizard. There's no reason why I shouldn't have been paying attention to my health.
The 1st time I beat a Snake Pit was with a Rogue. The other time, I only beat it because everyone else was already in the boss room, where I could teleport to.
I'm probably not going into a Snake Pit again for a long time, even if I'm with a bunch of other people. The worst part about this is that I don't think I have any matching equipment pieces in my Vault to start out with when I make a new character, whenever that is. Like, I have a T9 Heavy Armor, but I don't have a high-tier Sword to go with it. I have a T8 Wand, but I don't have a good Robe to use alongside it.
Ugh. Remember: In Realm of the Mad God, always ask yourself "Is this reward REALLY worth the risk?" before getting into a dangerous situation.
Oh, well, I guess it could have been worse. That Wizard didn't even have 1/8 maxed stats, so maybe it's not as bad of a loss as I thought.
