Strategy[]

Dolphina can really mess up your backlines if allowed to hit them. Try to exploit her 30 knockbacks to keep her successful hits to a minimum. Using "ranged meatshields" or simply meatshielding sparingly is a way to exploit her short standing range of 150, but isn't the only strategy against her.

No Return Flights features only Traitless enemies, so use generalist units and cats with high damage per hit, like Can Can Cat and Awakened Bahamut Cat, along with spammable ranged attackers such as Cameraman Cat, Paris Cat and Seafarer Cat. Anti-Traitless units such as EPICFEST ubers will completely destroy this stage.

The stage can be difficult with the lack of money drops from the enemies. When spamming units at the start of the boss fight, you need to be careful not to let your wallet drop below 4500¢, as finding the perfect moment to summon Awakened Bahamut is difficult yet crucial.

Strategy 1 (up to 3 Crowns)[]

Lineup: Manic Mohawk Cat, Eraser Cat 20+40+, Manic Eraser Cat 30, Can Can Cat 40, Manic Macho Legs 30, Maglev Cat 30, Seafarer Cat 40, Manic Island Cat 30, Polevaulter Cat 40, Awakened Bahamut 30.

Items: Rich Cat (Optional)

Notes: High levels are optimal for this stage.

Stall the Otta-smack-u cycles with Can Can Cats, Manic Island Cats and Seafarer Cats. Make sure not to push too much because you might trigger the boss fight before you're ready. Once you have a level 8 Worker Cat and a full wallet, stack up 5 Ottas and use your 5 attackers, but not Maglev. Save it later for when Dolphina comes out. After successfully stalling for a while, keep on spamming, but manage your money. Spawn Seafarer Cat and Polevaluter Cat only when 2 Ottas come, and when 3 Ottas come, spawn Awakened Bahamut to kill all of them and trigger the base. Now repeat the cycle of spawning Awakened Bahamut for the 3 Otta cycles until the Dolphinas are dead. Don't celebrate though... The Rain Ds and Master A. could finish you off, so keep your guard on. If you got past the Dolphina wave, don't spawn Can Can Cat or Seafarer Cat - both are outranged by Rain D. If unlucky you might need to spend Cat Food on a continue and finish them off with Awakened Bahamut. If you're running a little low on cash, you may be spending too much cash on Polevaulters and Seafarers.

Strategy 2 (4 Crowns)[]

Lineup: Biohazard + Bony Bone, Sister Act, Ramen Cat, Cameraman Cat, Cyborg Cat, Schoolbus Nyandam and Awakened Ururun

Use the empty start to get a level 4 Worker Cat. Lure the first two Otta-smack-us fairly close to your base, then spawn 3 or 4 sets of Ramen Cats and Cameraman Cats. This will clear the first wave and do a good percentage of damage to the second. Lure the second wave close and spawn 3 more sets of Ramen Cats and Cameraman Cays. The goal is to have a LV 8 Worker Cat while having nothing on the field, as in having Ottas approaching your base. At this point, do not spawn Ramen Cat until all Dolphinas are defeated.

Spawn Cameraman Cats continually for the rest of the stage. Letting your wave of Cameraman Cats get a slight lead, spawn Nyandam and Ururun, then keep Cameraman Cat and Cyborg Cat on cooldown, prioritizing Cameraman Cat when funds get low. Your wave of Cameraman Cats will crash into the enemy base and start the real fun. Continue spawning Cameraman Cats and Cyborg Cats until you win, Dolphina will most likely not be able to attack through the damage-knockbacks, so don't use meatshields.

The Cameraman Cats destroy Dolphinas, but you need Cyborg Cats to handle the Rain Ds due to Cameraman Cat's range of 250. Cyborg Cats can hit Rain D. and therefore, Dolphina, and Rain D. similarly needs only 18,000 damage to be knocked back.

The wave of Dolphinas and Rain Ds eventually ends. Master A. will be the last enemy standing, disregarding the infinitely spawning Ottas. Use Ramen and Nyandam to slowly defeat him. The idea of not using meatshields should be considered for all Crown difficulties. Once you effectively remove the Dolphinas, all you're left with is a Master A. and a few Rain Ds.

Trivia[]

  • No Return Flights and Dolphina both reference songs by folk singer Iruka, whose stage name literally means "dolphin":
    • No Return Flights' Japanese name, Mō Riku ni wa Kaerenai ("Can't Return to Land Anymore") is an obvious play on the title of the 1985 song "Mō Umi ni wa Kaerenai" ("Can't Return to Sea Anymore").
    • Dolphina's description pulls from the 1975 song "Nagori Yuki", as it mentions riding a train (from Tokyo no less, in her Japanese description), a careless youth, and wasting time without realizing it.
