Ototodevteam

Ototo Development Team (also known as Ototo Corps) is a feature introduced in the version 6.0 update. The feature allows the player to develop a new appearance for the Cat Base, Cat Cannon attacks and also further increase the Cannon power. Ototo Development Team can be accessed by scrolling to the right in the Gamatoto screen. In version 6.8, all Cat Bases/Cannons could be upgraded to level 20. Two new cannons have been introduced since then.

Explanation

The feature is unlocked after clearing Empire of Cats Chapter 1 and is only functional after the player has upgraded the Cat Cannon Power, Range and Charge to level 10 at the Upgrade Menu. To develop, Ototo requires some resource materials and workers to build.

The resource materials can be obtained randomly when clearing Stories of Legend stages. The resource type dropped usually has a tendency with the stage cleared, eg: Stages with Zombies usually drop Beast Bones. Stages with Red enemies stages usually drop Brick. Materials can also be obtained by clearing Material Guerrilla Stages.

The engineer(s) required can be obtained from Gamatoto Expedition randomly after clearing an expedition, one at a time with a maximum of having five engineers.

Note that when in progress of upgrading, you may still obtain engineers from Gamatoto expeditions.

Getting materials

Materials are scattered throughout Stories of Legend. Upon clearing any stage, there is a chance to get materials. There are 7 types of material: Bricks, Feathers, Coal, Sprockets, Gold, Meteorite, and Beast Bones, each associated with a certain enemy type (Red, Floating, Black, Metal, Angel, Alien, and Zombie, respectively). The type of materials dropped is not affected by enemies in that level; for example, the feather can be received in levels that don't spawn any Floating enemies at all. Materials won't drop in Event Stages (Red) and Collaboration Stages (Purple). No levels have a limit of how many materials you can obtain or how many times they will drop, so the player could just grind one stage forever. Torture Room is an effective stage for this since it's so quick, and every material drops there except Meteorite.

The drop rate is applied on all stages in a sub-chapter, so it's always better/more beneficial/efficient to farm at a stage with the lowest Energy cost. The star difficulty only affects how many items you can farm per a stage clear.

  • 1-Star gives a maximum of 3 items.
  • 2-Star gives a maximum of 4 items.
  • 3-Star and 4-Star give a maximum of 5 items.

As you can see, drop rates for materials tend to be connected to the appearance of a trait in a subchapter. For example, Suburbs of the Dead has a high drop rate for Beast Bones since it has a lot of zombies in it.

Getting Engineers

Engineers can be obtained from Gamatoto expeditions. Player will be notified if obtaining one. Can be obtained at the same time as an expedition assistant for Gamatoto. Retiring an expedition assistant also gives the option to change them to an engineer.

The engineer will be spent on base upgrade, and players can have up to 5 at once. Once reached, no extra engineers can be obtained. Advanced base upgrades can require up to 4 engineers.

Upgrading tutorial

To upgrade Ototo Corps, simply go to the Gamatoto screen and swipe left. This will take you to the Ototo Corps screen. Once on the Ototo Corps screen, tap on the engineer, and select an upgrade. If the required materials are available, development on a project can commence and will finish in 12 or 24 hours.

Normalbase
Attacks by firing a laser beam into the ground which after a slight delay explodes into shockwaves. Enemies in range will be knocked back and take low damage.
Upgrades increase base health up to a maximum of 76,000 in addition to existing Base Health. Cat Cannon damage is unaffected, but the Cat Sniper battle item becomes 380 points stronger as its attack power is 0.5% of your base's maximum health.

Shieldbase
Spawns a static unit called the Iron Wall Cat 100 range in front of the nearest enemy (minimum of about 150 range from enemy base). The shield has 5 health, is considered Metal, and is immune to all status effects. However, it will expire after 60 frames 2 seconds even if enemies do not deplete its health. In addition, as it considered a Cat Unit, it cannot be deployed if the maximum number of deployed units has been reached, and Zombies can burrow underneath it.
Upgrades increase shield health and duration up to a maximum of 16 health and 135 frames 4.5 seconds respectively.

Stopbase
Summons a bolt of lightning that strikes from 1-500 range in front of the furthest player unit. The lightning strikes after slight delay, damaging enemies by 30% of the Cat Cannon's power and freezing them for 15 frames 0.5 seconds.
Upgrades increase damage and freeze duration up to a maximum of 48% of the Cat Cannon's power and 60 frames 2 seconds respectively.

Fires a jet of saltwater that strikes from 1-??? range in front of the furthest Cat Unit. The water blast removes 11% of Metal enemies' current health, but only does 1 damage to non-Metal enemies.
Upgrades increase percentage damage against Metal enemies up to a maximum of 35%.

Fire waves of divine light that burst from the ground in sequence toward the enemy base. Deals damage to Zombies equal to 0.5% of their maximum health (increased to 10% if the Zombie is burrowed), forces burrowed Zombies to resurface, knocks them back, freezes them for 30 frames 1 second, and permanently kills them if it deals a fatal blow. However, it has no effect against other enemies.
Upgrades increase normal percentage damage, burrowed percentage damage, and freeze duration against Zombies up to a maximum of 10%, 30%, and 59 frames 1.97 seconds respectively.

Fires an energy pulse that strikes from 1-160 on the nearest enemy. Breaks barriers of all enemies in range, deals 30% of the Cat Cannon's power as damage, and knocks them back.
Upgrades increase attack range and damage up to a maximum of 320 range and 100% of the Cat Cannon's power respectively.

Missing levels 11-20 on Holy Blast and Breakerblast cannons as well as Level 11-19 Thunderbolt damage (Please feel free to add to it yourself!)
Warning: Canceling the progress will not return engineers or materials used. Progress can be sped up using Catamins, just like the Gamatoto expedition.

Tips

  • The base body and decoration do not have any effect. Only the head Cannon changes Cat Cannon strikes.

Trivia

  • The Iron Wall Cat is the slowest cat unit in the game, with a movement speed of 0.
    • It is also the only cat unit that does not attack.
