Ranma Saotome (Leotard) is an Uber Rare Cat that can be obtained by playing the Rare Cat Capsule during Ranma 1/2 Collaboration Event. She was added in Version 11.7.

Strategy/Usage

Ranma is a good generalist backliner that does a solid generalist against her targeted traits. Her high range and Long Distance ability allow her to hit and Freeze Black and Angel backliners such as Sunfish Jones and Director Kurosawah. Although freezing black enemies is a niche dominated by Bombercat, Ranma finds her place in it with her ability to hit the enemies Bombercat can't reach. Her high speed isn't as much of a detriment against black and angel type enemies usually have a lot of fast peons that keep the frontline solid, though she still runs the risk of getting caught by backliners (her 2 second backswing also helps with this issue). Her main knock against her targeted traits is her absolutely abysmal ability uptime of about 22%. This restricts her use greatly as her freeze will not have a very high impact on the battle. Though the uptime is dismal, Ranma's LD AOE allows it to hit quite a lot of enemies, not just the backliners, so a 2 second freeze has a bigger impact than it would normally. One of the enemies Ranma does the best against is Winged Pigge, as Ranma outranges its Omnistrike and a two second freeze on it can allow your fast damage dealers to hit it without getting weakened.

As a generalist, Ranma has solid backliner stats, which keep her usable as one, but she is outclassed by many other generalist ubers. However, she her main generalist selling point is her Wave Immunity and Surge Immunity. Wave and Surge Immune Units are hard to come by, and having a unit that can be immune to either or fulfills a few valuable niches. While she can only have one at a time, this is hardly important as stages with both wave and surge units are extremely uncommon. Against her targeted traits, Ranma is immune to the wave attacks of both Two Can and Youcan, which allows her to stay alive a bit longer against them. It is important to bring strong tanks against these wavers because even if Ranma is unaffected by the waves, she will die quickly anyway if she is unsupported. Her average generalist stats allow her to hold her own against her non-target traits as well, especially against wave and surge enemies. Surge immunity is a much rarer niche, but also has less application. It makes Ranma into a strong pick against certain Aku enemies with powerful surges, but be wary of Shields.

In summary, Ranma is a strong generalist that does a solid job against her traits, and fulfills a few rare and valuable niches, though she is unable to carry through stages and shines the most with proper defense and support.

• Ranma Saotome first appeared in her "Leotard" outfit in episode 12 of the anime, although here it was green, in the next episode it was pink like shown in her sprite in The Battle Cats.
