Salaryman Cat (Rare Cat)

Salaryman Cat is a Rare Cat that was added in Version 2.0.6 and can be unlocked when beating any stage in Loving Labour. True Form increases health, attack power and knockbacks, in addition to gaining double damage at 50% health.

Evolves into Grudge Cat at level 10.

Evolves into Ritual Cat when obtained from the Salaryman Awakes! (may be dropped on the first stage but guaranteed on the second stage) and is level 20 or above.

Strategy/Usage

Due to his low stats and high cost, Salaryman Cat is only viable in early-game stages as a general attacker and should not be used later on.

True Form

Ritual Cat is merely stronger, with better stats that make him worth using in a wider part of The Battle Cats. Sadly, this part of the game is already trivial compared to the stages where his True Form can be obtained in the first place. In other words, by the time you get him, he will be obsolete in 1-3-Crown stages due to low overall stats for his cost, recharge time and role overall.

However, there is one use for this cat: a 4-Crown alternative to Can Can Cat. He gains use here as a cat with similar attack power, higher health, shorter deploy rate for no Slow ability, and higher cost. He shares many similarities with Can Can, with those above being the only major differences. His Strengthen can also work well considering his health at Lv.50 being around 70,000. That, combined with his low knockback count, makes this cat a strong pusher for 4-Crown stages, and a viable alternative to Can Can there.

Appearance

• Normal Form: A tall, humanoid cat. Wears a striped tie and carries a briefcase. Jumps and then falls on enemy when attacking, throwing the briefcase in the air in the process.
• Evolved Form: Now wears a headband with two lit candles attached to it. Carries a stake and a small voodoo doll. Has the Japanese kanji for "grudge" (怨) on his chest.
• True Form: Now has a grass skirt, face paint and holds two sticks with straw dolls on them, now on fire. Jumps and throws the flaming sticks in the air, twirling as they fall back into his hands. The kanji on his chest now means "angry" (憤).

Trivia

• The "DoGeZa" in Salamaryman Cat's description refers to how he ends his attack animation: the dogeza, a prostrating pose in which one kneels directly on the ground on hands and feet while bowing low enough for their head to touch the floor, expressing deep sorrow or gratitude to someone else. The dogeza was once a common element of Japanese etiquette used to show respect to nobles, but is now a rare sight outside of pop culture.
• Salaryman Cat's description has a typo. It says, "an magnificent DoGeZa," instead of "a magnificent DoGeZa".
• Grudge Cat’s outfit is based on what someone would wear during the practice of a cursing method named “Ushi no Koku Mairi”, where a nail is hammered into a doll, resulting in the death of a desired target.
• The "GoSuN" nail in Grudge Cat's Japanese description is named after the word gosun (五寸), meaning "five inches".
• The first line of Ritual Cat's Japanese description contains an almost-word-for-word reference to the full title of Takashi Sorimachi's 1998 hit single "POISON 〜Ītai Koto mo Ienai Konna Yo no Naka wa〜" (POISON 〜言いたい事も言えないこんな世の中は〜). The only parts missing are "poison" and the "wa" (は) at the end.
• The "BouGeN" post in Ritual Cat's Japanese description is named after the word bōgen (暴言), meaning a crass, reckless remark or outright abusive language.
• Labor Thanksgiving Day is the Japanese national holiday mentioned in Salaryman Cat's Japanese description, and the holiday is the basis of the Loving Labour event.
  • This explains the typo in the Cat Guide, stating that this unit is unlocked from "Loving Labor" instead of Loving Labour.
• The name of Ritual Cat's ability was revealed by the introduction of the "Filter" option in BCEN 3.5.0.
• Class Rep Cat is likely a younger version of him, based on his Normal Form's description.
