Strategy/Usage[]
Diabolic Gao is a powerful and versatile Uber. With outstanding DPS and wave immunity, he is effective against most enemies as his DPS is higher than many others and his range is above-average, not to mention his massive health.
To add on all this, he deals massive damage against traitless enemies. Diabolic Gao will make dealing with enemies such as Master A. and R.Ost far easier, as long as he is protected by meatshields, since he can outrange them and does good damage. He will make Floor 30 of the Heavenly Tower pretty easy (provided you can deal with peons while not relying on Trolly Blogger to lure, or use other wave-immune meatshields in conjunction); he can also make Floor 40 easier since a level 40+ Shadow Gao does enough damage to knockback Yulala in one hit and freeze him to make stalling much easier, which is normally extremely difficult. However, his freeze is a little too short to be significantly useful against traitless enemies and should be considered a bonus. Exceptions that will cause struggle for him are Kappy and Uril.
Due to his effectiveness against traitless enemies and his gargantuan range, he is able to make the Crazed/Manic stages much easier. Most of the stages have predominantly traitless enemies, so he is usually effective against both the peons and the boss. Notable stages which he excels in include The Crazed Cat, The Crazed Tank, The Crazed Gross, The Crazed Cow, The Crazed Lizard, The Crazed Titan and their Manic counterparts. In that same sense, Diabolic Gao also makes Awakening stages for most Special Cats and Monthly Cats a cakewalk; provided proper meatshielding, of course, as he targets most of them, excluding Dark Lazer, Beefcake Cat, Flying Ninja Cat, Nyalladin and Kiss and Koi, who are either Black or Floating.

Appearance[]
- Normal Form: Similar in appearance to his normal counterpart, Mighty Lord Gao, but jet black with the exception of the blue spirals on his crest and shoulders. He is also somewhat smaller. To attack, he jumps into the air and whips his tail forwards, resulting in a blue blast on the ground.
- Evolved Form: Shadow Gao now has more blue detailing across his body, including his more spiky and ornate crest. He seems to have gained somewhat of a charcoal-colored mane and a second darker tail. The bolt created when attacking now causes large ice-looking spikes to appear, possibly reflecting his new freezing ability.

Trivia[]
- When he was released, PONOS changed enemies that were both Traitless and Floating into purely Floating, such as Teacher Bun Bun, to prevent Shadow Gao from being too overpowered, as there were no units specifically targeting traitless before his addition.
- Shadow Gao's existence implies a Cat-multiverse and, furthermore, depicts a world wherein the Cats as a race were nearly destroyed in ancient wars.
- From July 14, 2023 to August 3, 2023, Shadow Gao, along with D'arktanyan, were accidentally made available in the gacha system in The Battle Cats Unite, despite not being properly added in Version 1.0.6. This was later fixed in Version 1.0.7 where these units were made unavailable until a future update.
- He was properly re-added in the September 14, 2023 Live Download Patch.
