Spacefish Jones (スペースマンボルグ Supēsumanborugu, Space Manborg [manbō = sunfish]) is a Starred Alien/Floating variant of Sunfish Jones that appears in Cats of the Cosmos and Legend Stages.

Enemy

Spacefish Jones is more glass cannon-oriented than Sunfish Jones, dealing up to 19,744 damage when first encountered and almost 30,000 in its strongest appearances. It also sports a Barrier with 12,000 HP, meaning it can survive longer against your weaker cats, plus a faster movement speed allowing it to advance easier.

Strategy

Spacefish Jones is considerably less durable, not to mention its two traits are pretty easy to exploit with a clear shot. Despite its Barrier strength, it is still relatively weak and may not necessarily require a dedicated Barrier Breaker. The obvious strategy would be to use fast melee units like Awakened Bahamut Cat, Greater Balrog Cat and Fishman to exploit its long attack delay and in the latter case, its Floating trait. However, you'll have to time them properly to get the most out of them, and make sure no other threats can get in the way. If you can accumulate enough DPS, Spacefish Jones won't be able to fire off enough attacks, either, as it has three knockbacks, and so even in its strongest appearances there may be a chance to regain ground against it. Just remember to replace destroyed units quickly before it pushes.

Slower melee units like Jamiera Cat or Crazed M. Titan Cat can tank multiple hits from Spacefish Jones, and the former can help to interrupt its attack animation. At high levels, Macho Leg Cat can also be a serviceable counter, but its single target hinders it greatly.

In terms of ranged units, only few work well, because Spacefish Jones' range is so high that it will end up hitting them anyways and many of them lack the necessary defensive attributes, making it near-impossible to snipe. However, means to hit behind the frontline, especially waves and surges, do remain valuable if they are long enough to reach Spacefish Jones, such as in the case of Gravolodon, whose resistance to Aliens, Barrier Breaker and Waves enable it to easily snipe Jones. Additionally, Spacefish Jones is often seen supporting melee pushers, so units that can deal with them are still valuable to bring.

Trivia

• Its Japanese name, Space Manborg (スペースマンボルグ), is a reference to the game Space Manbow (スペースマンボウ); note that manbō means "sunfish".
• Its design could be based on the Spadefish species as both Spacefish Jones and Sunfish Jones are very compressed and disk-shaped, hence the claim that Spacefish Jones is "invisible" when viewed at the front. In fact, 'Spacefish' and 'Spadefish' are only a single letter apart.
• Its description may be a vague reference to the Northrop Grumman B-2 stealth bomber, as it is mentioned in Sunfish Jones' entry, and Spacefish Jones also has a stealth-relevant design.
• Both its English and Japanese descriptions break the 4th wall as they mention it being present in a game.
