Battle Cats Wiki

Stratospheric Pathway (異空行路の先に, Ikū Kōro no Saki Ni, Up Ahead on the Alternate Dimension's Path) is the 10th sub-chapter of Zero Legends, and the 108th sub-chapter overall. It was introduced in Version 13.2 and is available up to 1♛ difficulty.

Like most of the previous ZL sub-chapters, the stages here aren't too much of a threat. In particular, Steps Great and Small is trivialized by Cone Cat, while Prairie Harbor mainly serves to showcase Master of Mind Catcrates.

New Features[]

This sub-chapter introduces 2 new enemies to Zero Legends:

  • Dogenstein: A Traitless/Sage variant of Doge that has even higher health than a 200% Wild Doge and a 35% chance to freeze cats.
  • Tarsiriel: An Angel/Sage variant of LeMurr that behaves much like Loris, but slows cats as opposed to cursing them. Deals even less damage than Loris, with 320 standing range rather than 449.

  • In the same way that The Edge of Spacetime through Garden of Wilted Thoughts take place in an altered, mirrored Japan, the map used in Stratospheric Pathway and onward is North and South America but jumbled up and rearranged.
  • Each stage is a different reference to American culture:
    • Permission to Land's Japanese name, Jiyū e no Jōriku-chi (自由への上陸地, "Landing Point to Freedom"), mentions freedom and may specifically reference "Land of the Free", a phrase in "The Star-Spangled Banner" commonly used as a nickname for the U.S. The stage also has an eagle on its enemy base.
    • Steps Great and Small is similar to "That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind," a famous quote by American astronaut Neil Armstrong. The reference is more in its Japanese name, Ōinaru Chīsaki Ippo (大いなる小さき一歩, "One Great Little Step").
    • Burger Garden mentions burgers, which have been an iconic food of the United States for many years.
    • Small Inlet, Large Field's Japanese name, Ōkusabara no Chīsana Irie (大草原の小さな入り江, "Little Inlet on the Prairie"), references Little House on the Prairie, an American children's novel series that inspired a live-action TV series and an anime.
    • Bubbly Dream's Japanese name, Baburī-kan Dorīmu (バブリー感ドリーム, "Bubbly-feeling Dream"), sounds similar to Amerikan Dorīmu (アメリカンドリーム, American Dream).
    • Prairie Harbor's Japanese name, Gurēto Purērī Minato (グレートプレーリー港, "Great Prairie Harbor"), may reference the Great Plains region or Grand Prairie, a city in Texas.
    • The Starred Aliens in Burger Garden, Small Inlet, Large Field and Bubbly Dream may allude to the stars on the U.S. flag.
  • Stratospheric Pathway is the first Zero Legends sub-chapter not to reintroduce a former event-exclusive enemy.
