Summoner Satoru (Uber Rare Cat)

Summoner Satoru is an Uber Rare Cat that can be unlocked by playing the Rare Cat Capsule during The Dynamites event. He was added in Version 10.9. True Form added in Version 12.2 Update increases health and Shield Piercing chance, and also gains the Knockback ability.

Strategy/Usage

Satoru is an excellent Aku crowd-controller with high ability uptime and guaranteed effect. Combined with his decent survivability and good standing range, he can easily counter most Aku enemies, especially Aku backliners which are typically the most problematic Aku of all. Satoru also has immunity to Surges to protect himself from the Aftermath of the Aku enemies he kills.

However, Satoru suffers from one major weakness as an Aku crowd-controller: a low and therefore unreliable Shield Piercing chance of 20%, leaving his performance at the mercy of one's luck, since if he doesn't break his target's Shield, they won't be affected by his slow.

True Form

Satoru's True Form fixes many of the issues he used to have. The biggest one is Shield Piercing, going from a low 20% to a good 50%. This makes it more likely to Slow and Knockback Aku, greatly enhancing his viability as an anti-Aku. Speaking of Knockback, it is another great help to his kit as an anti-Aku Uber. While the combination of Slow and Knockback initially seems concerning due to the fact it can push backliners together with melee enemies causing your attackers to come into their range kill them, thanks to Satoru's great piercing range of up to 770, this is a non-issue and instead helps by pushing enemies away from his blindspot. A small health bonus is a good quality as he can take a few more hits, but otherwise isn't too noteworthy.

Overall, Satoru's True Form greatly enhances his anti-Aku capabilities and is a great choice for nearly every Aku stage, and will be a fantastic unit during Aku Realms.

Appearance

• Normal Form: A boy with black hair and lightly coloured clothes. He has several accessories, such as a pouch and key-shaped necklace. Attacks by spawning a portal, from which a white cat-demon appears to shoot a fireball.
• Evolved Form: The same boy, but clothes and accessories turn black and are more detailed. His demon is now mostly black, except for its face, which remains white. It exchanges its spear for a black trident which also has a skull on it.
• True Form: He gains a floating wizard hat that follows him, and his shoes turn dark. The front part of his hair becomes red.

Trivia

• All three of Satoru's forms heavily reference the main character of "Yo-kai Watch", Nathan Adams.
• Satoru is a common masculine Japanese name nominalized from the verb 悟る, meaning "to know" or "understand". There are several other meanings it can have depending on which kanji is used to spell it, such as "dawn" (暁), "to awaken" (覚), and "intelligence" or "clever" (賢), however, the unit's name is written in katakana (サトル).
