Clash of Steel (Merciless) is one of the 7 Continuation Stages that the player can access after beating An Elder Secret (Merciless), the only stage in Growing Strange. Completing this stage yields an Elder Catfruit Seed, or at a 1% chance, an Elder Catfruit.

Battleground

• 5 Metal Doges spawn after 5 seconds^150f, delay 23.33 seconds^700f.
• 2 Metal Doges spawn after 23.33 seconds^700f, delay 30 seconds^900f.
• 1 Metal One Horn spawns after 16.67 seconds^500f.
• When the base reaches 99% HP:
  • 1 Sir Metal Seal spawns as the boss.
  • 2 Metal One Horns spawn, delay 20 seconds^600f.
  • 1 Super Metal Hippoe spawns.

Strategy

This stage is one of the most feared stages from Growing Strange by many players, due to being a metal stage, clearing it can be incredibly inconsistent. Using Uber Rares that can easily stall Metal foes (Poseidon can almost perma-freeze if you stack two and time them correctly; Kaguya and Mitama are also amazing), and slowly kill the enemies using some critical hitters. With this approach, all you really need are meatshields and any critical hitter as support.

Don't waste space on meatshields and only bring one very strong anti-Metal, hoping for RNG and spamming everything your money allows you to spam as meatshields, even units that aren't normally used for this if you have plenty of money.

Using consistent anti-Metal crowd control (preferably Puppetmaster & Charley, talented Lollycat, or some Uber Rare) and try to stack at least 5 Soba Cats at the start and then just spam meatshields and other units for protection afterwards.
