Red Riding Mina is a Special Cat that can be unlocked when beating Learned to Love. True Form added in Version 7.0 increases health, attack power and reach, is immune to Curse and can weaken Relics.

Strategy/Usage

Normal/Evolved Form

Red Riding Mina is a very useful long-range attacker, one of the few non-gacha units that can snipe enemies such as Calamary, Professor A. and Rain D. from behind the frontlines. Unfortunately her health and attack power in her Normal/Evolved Form pales in comparison to similar Uber/Legend Rares, which means that you will mostly only use her in Restriction Stages, unless you happen to encounter a stage where you are able to stack Minas at the beginning; most specifically, you will stack her behind your own Cat Base, usually with the support of Crowd-Controller-class Cats like Magica Cat or Prof. Cat Jobs.

True Form

Awakened Mina gains a higher effective range, double damage, 1.5x more health and the ability to weaken Relics, albeit with a 50% chance. As specifically anti-Relic abilities are uncommon outside of Talents, the niche in and of itself is important, as it allows her to counter dangerous enemies like Othom and M. Ost. So, whenever she does weaken, it can change the tide of the battle, as it helps Modern Cat and your other meatshields survive for longer. With this new addition, stacking her is even more important as it increases her chances to weaken to almost guaranteed! However, if you have Slapstick Cats' Talents, you'll likely rely on them for weaken instead of Mina as they're far more disposable.

Weaken aside, unlocking this form doubles her DPS and increases her piercing range to 265. Overall, she is a worthy use of your Elder Catfruit, and is useful and relevant in numerous stages until Awakened Naala can be unlocked. With all this being said, do not let any enemies enter her blind spot unless you are trying to stack her, as most opponents encountered this late deal extremely high damage even on 1-Crown difficulty, and Mina has no abundance of health to safely tank any dangerous hits.

Appearance

• Normal Form: Appears as a young girl with cat characteristics; wears a similar getup to fairytale character Little Red Riding Hood. Carries a basket holding Killer Cats and has an assassin's kunai strapped to her upper thigh. Uses a bazooka improbably concealed in her basket to attack with Killer Cats as ammo.
• Evolved Form: Her dress, in general, has become darker and is more detailed. She now has stockings, boots, gloves, and bows on her basket and on her head.
• True Form: Now fully colored with some forest friends accompanying her. She is trailed by a raccoon, squirrels, rabbits and has two blue birds nested on her hood. During her attack animation, the animals are noticeably startled and tremble until the attack's completion.

Trivia

• Other than resembling the famously known folktale character Little Red Riding Hood, Mina's appearance, personality, and arsenal may be inspired by the Vampire Savior character Baby Bonnie Hood, who dons an innocent "red riding hood" appearance but in reality is a psychopath. She appears with devilish eyes whenever she is seen attacking, similar to Mina. Hidden in her basket are various weaponry, such as landmines, an Uzi, or, just like Mina, a bazooka.
  • The way Awakened Mina's animals cower in fear when Mina is attacking is also reminiscent of how Baby Bonnie Hood's dog Harry cowers in fear when she attacks.
• Specifically on the 19th and 105th frames of her attack animation, Mina can be seen looking straight down at her basket with an evil grin as she pulls out or puts away her bazooka, her hood casting a shadow over her eyes. Since these moments only last for only a single frame each, they're almost unnoticeable unless Mina gets frozen at just the right moment.
• Version 6.7 increased Mina's standing range from 400 to 435.
• The word 猫かぶり nekokaburi in Crimson Mina's Japanese description refers to feigning innocence, ignorance or gentleness, but also contains the word 猫 neko, meaning cat.
• Unlike other Legend Cats, her silhouette shown when entering Legend Stages doesn't give a preview of her attack animation.
• Mina has an implied rivalry with Valkyrie Cat, as together they form a Cat Combo named "Rivalry". This Cat Combo increases the Worker Cat's starting level by a small amount.
  • Crimson Mina's Japanese description confirms this directly.
• Her bazooka being broken refers to how the original enemy unit, Codename "Red Riding", has a far greater Long Distance reach.
• She uses an exploding Killer Cat as a rocket, long before Killer Cat was avaliable as a unit himself.
