Features[]

There are 3 new features:

  • Save Data: The Battle Cats POP! supports multiple save files rather than one to allow multiple family members or friends play on the same downloaded software without having to worry about making any mistakes with others' progress.
  • Save 「セーブ」: Unlike its mobile counterparts, The Battle Cats POP! includes a manual save functionality which can be used anytime in the main menu.
  • VS Mode: Two players can go head-to-head in a heated battle against each other. Each player chooses up to 10 Cat Units to try and destroy the others base. There is one extra addition to VS Mode known as "Get Help Bonus Spin", this feature allows the player to gamble for a special bonus to use against the opposing player, these bonuses range from:

  • Recovery: Player's Cat Units' recharge time decreased.
  • Cat Cannon: Acts like the regular Cat Cannon attack.
  • Cost Down: Lowers the cost of the player's Cat Units.
  • Max Money: Maxes player's wallet.
  • Efficiency Up: Increases the player's efficiency level.
  • Fast Recovery: Player's Cat Units' recharge time decreased even further.
  • Healing: Heals the player's Cat Units' health.
  • Baby Boom: Acts like the regular Baby Boom Attack.
  • Attack Up: Increases the player's Cat Units' attack.
  • Defense Up: Increases the player's Cat Units' health.
  • Move Speed Up: Increases the player's Cat Units' speed.

  • Slow: Slows the opposing player's Cat Units.
  • Knockback: Activates a boss shockwave knocking opposing player's Cat Units back.
  • Freeze: Freezes the opposing player's Cat Units.

  • Differences from the Mobile Version[]

    • The names of several cats and enemies have been changed along with many of their descriptions (most likely due to space limitations on the 3DS hardware). For the name changes, see this page.
    • A few Cat Units are missing sprites and/or parts of their animations, with the most notable ones being the entire Galaxy Gals Uber set.
    • There are only 3 main game chapters, the first being similar to Empire of Cats chapter 1, the second chapter going through Japan, and the third chapter taking place in space.
      • In the Japanese version of the game, the locations that chapters 1 and 2 take place in have been swapped. This has no effect on gameplay though, outside of changing the appearance of various Backgrounds and Enemy Bases.
    • Dark Emperor Santa and Chief Peng appear as regular enemies and thus are listed in the Enemy Guide.
    • The Normal Cat Capsule does not appear like the Rare Cat Capsule does. Instead, you can get True Forms for Normal Cats by simply leveling them up to 20.
    • The Rare Cat Capsule is unlocked when the player clears Saudi Arabia (島根県, Shimane Prefecture). As the game progresses, more Uber sets to draw from become available. Nekoluga can be obtained from any set, making him the easiest to obtain.
      • The Dynamites is unlocked when clearing Saudi Arabia (島根県, Shimane Prefecture).
      • Sengoku Wargods Vajiras is unlocked when clearing Chapter 1 of the game.
      • Cyber Academy Galaxy Gals is unlocked when clearing Chapter 2 of the game.
      • Lords of Destruction Dragon Emperors is unlocked when clearing Calabash Nebula (ひょうたん星雲, Gourd Nebula).
      • Ancient Heroes Ultra Souls is unlocked when clearing Cosmic Lounge (惑星スナック, Planet Snack).
        • The cost to roll one capsule in The Dynamites and Sengoku Wargods Vajiras is 3 Cat Food.
        • The cost to roll one capsule in Cyber Academy Galaxy Gals is 4 Cat Food.
        • The cost to roll one capsule in Lords of Destruction Dragon Emperors and Ancient Heroes Ultra Souls is 5 Cat Food.
    • The Normal Cats are the only units to have True Forms.
    • Special Cats are bought with XP instead of Cat Food
    • Like in the mobile versions, the standard level cap prior to completing Chapter 2 is 10. Unlike the other versions however, by attempting to use duplicates of a cat that has already reached that point, you can permanently unlock the levels succeeding that amount for the chosen unit early.
    • The gacha cats' + levels have been significantly dropped to a lower-level cap.
    • "+" levels cannot be given to units until they have reached base level 20; attempting to do so before then will result in the duplicate unit being converted into 1 natural level as though they had been upgraded normally.
    • The Rare Cat Capsule also includes the Monthly and Cyclone Cats, as well as Cabaret Cat, Moneko, Bean Cats and Flower Cat, all of which can be obtained in any Uber set in their respective rarity level. (With the exceptions of Cabaret, Moneko, Bean Cats and Flower Cat which are now Super Rare instead of Special).
    • The enemy bases of the Moon and Kaiou stages have different designs. The Moon's in particular is a slightly modified version of the one from Kumanchu Royale.
    • Ururun Wolf appears as the final boss of Chapter 3 and may be obtained upon completion of the final stage. The player will receive Bahamut Cat as a reward for completing the game.
      • Note: Since Bahamut Cat is a 100% chance drop for the first-time reward, Treasure Radars cannot be used to obtain Ururun Wolf, leaving you to be forced to deal with her 5% drop chance.
    • Legend Stages are unavailable in The Battle Cats POP! The same goes for all features added in The Battle Cats Version 4.0 and beyond, such as Into the Future, Cats of the Cosmos, The Aku Realms, Zombie Outbreaks, Catclaw Dojo, Ototo Corps, Cat Guide and more.
    • Obtaining a duplicate Treasure grants the player a set amount of Cat Food.
      • Inferior grants 1 Cat Food.
      • Normal grants 2 Cat Food.
      • Superior grants 3 Cat Food.
    • Upon clearing a stage, you can receive the following items:
      • 5 Cat Food
      • 1 Rare Ticket
    • Clearing a stage for the first time will give you Cat Food; one in Chapter 1, two in Chapter 2, and three in Chapter 3.
    • There's now a chance time where a given stage will guarantee giving the player 5 Cat Food.
    • 10 Cat Food are given as a daily login bonus instead of the usual Cat Ticket.
    • Battle Items purchased from the shop are much cheaper and can be bought 1 at a time or in groups of 10.
      • 1 Speed Up cost 1 Cat Food instead of 9 Speed Up costing 50 Cat Food.
      • 1 Treasure Radar costs 3 Cat Food instead of 2 Treasure Radar costing 90 Cat Food.
      • 1 Rich Cat costs 2 Cat Food instead of 7 Rich Cat costing 150 Cat Food.
      • 1 Cat CPU cost 1 Cat Food instead of 20 Cat CPU costing 180 Cat Food.
      • 1 Cat Jobs cost 1 Cat Food instead of 5 Cat Jobs costing 300 Cat Food.
      • 1 Sniper the Cat costs 2 Cat Food instead of 4 Sniper the Cat costing 90 Cat Food.
    • There are only 4 types of XP Packs present in the 3DS Version but gives a lot less XP.
      • XP Pack A gives 12000 XP for 1 Cat Food.
      • XP Pack B gives 40000 XP for 3 Cat Food.
      • XP Pack C gives 100000 XP for 6 Cat Food.
      • XP Pack D gives 200000 XP for 10 Cat Food.
    • The sound effect when leaving menus has been changed to the reverse of the sound effect when entering menus.
    • There is now a will bar which will show the cap on the amount of cats you can summon at once.
    • Cat energy now recovers every 30 seconds.
    • Beating Korea no longer gives a guaranteed Superior Treasure.

    Trivia[]

    • Wheel Cat's description says that he is "powerful vs Aliens", yet no Alien enemies are present.
    • Most enemies have been heavily nerfed in this version of the game (e.g., Teacher Bun Bun takes around 150 frames for it to cycle through its attack instead of 31 frames).
    • Jamiera Cat has its lineup icon flipped; it is also misspelt in this version.
    • Before it is unlocked, the "Hero's Origin" treasure in the third chapter of the game states it increases unit attack, however, when it is unlocked, states it increases cat cannon power instead.
    • Island Cat's description doesn't actually have any lore in it, only listing it's abilities. "Might perform Critical attacks Strong against Red enemies."
