Valkyrie Cat is a Special Cat unlocked by completing Empire of Cats Chapter 2. Added in Version 4.2, her True Form increases attack power and can freeze non-Metal enemies. In The Battle Cats Unite!, she is unlocked when clearing India from Into the Future whilst her true from is unlocked from clearing Calabash Nebula and leveled up to 20.

Strategy/Usage

Valkyrie Cat is very useful for Empire of Cats Chapter 3 and the early stages of Stories of Legend and Into the Future. However, she can later be replaced by Bahamut Cat and Ururun Wolf. She is one of the first ranged attackers to deal area damage, which makes her a valuable asset in attacking groups of enemies while staying relatively safe in the back. While she might not be as fast as other units, be careful when to summon her, as it can lead her right into a boss' attack. It's best to summon her before or about when the boss spawns so that she can line up with other cats.

True Form

Unfortunately, Valkyrie Cat's True Form doesn't improve her stats enough to be relevant again outside of 4-Crown stages, which she is outclassed by due to Bahamut Cat and Ururun Cat existing, both of whom are much easier to stack and have higher range than her, not even mentioning their True Forms. More importantly she gains a chance to Freeze all Traited enemies aside Metals, which comes in handy for Tiny Horns and the variant stages of Crazed Cow. This can also be used to Freeze Traitless enemies, which is irreplaceable early on into the game provided you do not have Vendor Cat & Kitten.

Appearance

• Normal Form: A floating lady in armor with the massive spear "Meownir". She has long hair and a dress that blows in the wind.
• Evolved Form: Valkyrie got a new, charming dark dress and a pair of wings! She is slightly larger too, and everything else is colorized.
• True Form: Valkyrie gains a large white dress, different armor and an additional pair of wings. Her Meownir is bigger.

Trivia

• Meownir is based on the spear Gungnir held by the God Odin in Norse Mythology and the hammer Mjölnir, held by Thor. Valhalla is also home to Odin and is a hall in Asgard. A Valkyrie is also one of Odin's heavenly warriors.
• True Valkyrie Cat's winged headpiece is similar to the ones worn by the Valkyries Lenneth, Hrist and Silmeria in the Valkyrie Profile series.
• "The curse is broken, and the savior of Catkind has returned!" refers to the fact that she used to be Corrupted Valkyrie, corrupted by the curse of the dog lance Woofnir.
• Val Val Cat's armor is strongly implied to belong to Valkyrie Cat, though its bright blue coloration is a closer match for Lenneth from Valkyrie Profile.
• The quote "Half of a Cat is made out of kindness" from her Merc Storia profile is a direct reference to the tagline of the painkiller Bufferin, which can similarly be translated as "Half of a Bufferin is made out of kindness".
• On the Version 4.2 update poster, her True Form has a halo.
