Tank Cat is one of the Normal Cats and the second Cat the player obtains as a unit. It is unlocked after clearing Korea in Empire of Cats Chapter 1 and costs 0 XP or a Normal Cat Capsule to unlock. True Form increases health and attack power.

Strategy/Usage

Tank Cat's only purpose is to act as a shield, providing frontline protection for heavy hitters behind it, allowing them to utilize their range advantage. Its real strength is in the cheap cost and rapid recharge time which feeds a near continuous stream of replacements to the frontline when spammed.

Early on, Tank Cat has a longer recharge time than Cat, so time them carefully to maximize their efficiency. Later on, thanks to Treasure and Research upgrades, Tank Cat's cooldown can reach the lowest possible length (2 seconds), allowing it to be as spammable as Cat and become a more effective layer of defense for the Cat army. Conversely, it is rather slow, making it difficult to maintain a frontline shield if the battle zone is wide or if the Cats are near the enemy base. Players can overcome this deficiency by combining Tank Cat and its Crazed counterpart and/or other fast moving, defensive units (like Riceball Cat) to fill any gaps and maintain a solid layer of defense.

Tank Cat and its evolutions' very low attack power is useful in stages where only weak enemies appear at the beginning. Since it can withstand many hits from peons and does little damage, it can easily stall the stage by clogging the enemy limit, buying time for the player to upgrade the Worker Cat before summoning more expensive Cats. This can be very useful in stages such as Deathhawk, as the peons are strong but can be stalled for long periods of time. With this unit and others to finish the base faster, one can win the fight without the boss even spawning.

True Form

The only important improvement Eraser Cat gains is a much-needed increase in health. This allows it to tank hits from more enemies than before, such as the Crazed Cat enemy and R.Ost. It is still slower than Manic Eraser, meaning it takes longer to reach the frontline. Despite this, it also allows for a tighter line of meatshields that is effective in preventing fast pushers from advancing quickly. As with the other Normal Cats (barring the Basic Cat), a good number of plus levels is necessary to keep Eraser Cat relevant in late-game.

Appearance

• Normal Form: Looks like the basic Cat but with a vertically stretched body. Attacks by bending at a ninety-degree angle and headbutting. The mouth is more rectangular than usual (similar to the Crazed Cats).
• Evolved Form: Looks like a flat 3D rectangle but retains its Cat-like features. Attacks by slamming on the ground.
• True Form: Now has a wrapper around its body which says "NEKO" vertically on the front. Its width is also a bit more stretched. In other national versions of the game, the NEKO is not present. Attack animation remains the same.

Trivia

• Originally, it cost 500 XP to unlock Tank Cat instead of 0.
• Before Version 4.2.0 of Nyanko Daisensou, Tank Cat was one of the Cats that had the shortest range, along with Sumo Cat. The shortest range now belongs to the Wafer Cat, Li'l Tank Cat, Li'l Clops Cat Egg, and the Ancient Eggs which have only 100 range.
• Prior to Version 4.7, Wall Cat was a part of two other Cat Combos: Cat Army MkII and Maxed Out.
• Tank Cat is one of the three Normal Cats to not have its HP doubled in True Form, the others being Lizard Cat and Superfeline.
• Tank Cat is the only Normal Cat that has a mouth similar to those of the Crazed Cats.
  • In part of the trailer for Ganso!! Nyanko Daisensou, Tank Cat the same mouth as the other Normal Cats.
• Eraser Cat's logo "NEKO" is most likely a reference to the eraser company in Japan, "MONO", while having the word for "Cat" instead.
• In the Taiwanese version, Eraser Cat does not have "NEKO" on its wrapper. The same also applies to Manic Eraser Cat.
• The "Really Good™ Defense" stated in Eraser Cat's description may be a reference to the American school supplies manufacturer Really Good Stuff.
• In The Battle Cats Unite!, Tank Cat and Eraser Cat have different descriptions, with Tank Cat being regarded as female and Eraser Cat only being strong enough to move a small rock instead of two.
