The Battle Cats Unite! (ふたりで!にゃんこ大戦争, Futari De! Nyanko Daisensō, Together! Nyanko Great War) is the Switch version of The Battle Cats. Developed by PONOS.
Features
- Save 「セーブ」: Just like The Battle Cats POP!, The Battle Cats Unite! includes a manual save functionality which can be used anytime in the main menu.
- Play Together! 「協力プレイ でいげ 出陣」: Two players go into battle with 5 cats each, both players also have their own wallets that be upgraded and cannon that can be used.
- The players can receive a rank based on how well they do in the level via points earned.
- When the Cat Cannon is used, a quick time event will happen with the message shown "Press Together!", if successful the Cat Cannon will release a large rainbow beam then a Super Shockwave (放イ!超にゃんこ砲) across the battlefield. If unsuccessful, it will be replaced with a regular Cat Cannon Wave Attack.
- Earn a login bonus ever 6 hours! 「6時間毎にもらえる、ログインポーナス!」: Every 6 hours the game is not being played, you will gain a login bonus, the bonuses range from:
- 1 Cat Ticket
- 50 Cat Food
- Randomizing Formation 「ランダム」: As well as the default ten lineups the player can use, an eleventh is introduced that completely randomized your lineup with the units you currently unlocked. But you are not allowed to choose what units you would like to keep, text saying "Formation will appear after entering battle." (戦闘開始時に自動で編成されます。) appears where the units description would be.
- Mini-games 「オリジナルミニゲーム」: Mini-games have a set chance to appear after clearing or losing a stage, the Cat's Splash Text will appear saying, "Take on a Mini-game!" (にゃんにゃんチャンス!ミニゲームで一息つくにゃ!) One or two players are able to play minigames together, which can be unlocked when clearing Australia (高知県, Kochi in the Japanese version) there are four minigames in total:
「Sniper the Cat Alley」 (ぶっとびランチャー, Buttobi Ranchā, Buttobi Launcher)
This minigame includes a Cat with a cannon on-top of its head and a Tank Cat that will move back and forth, every time the a button is pressed it will shoot a bullet.
Your goal here is to defend your area from a mass release of Doges, Metal Doges and Doge Darks, if unsuccessful to defend your area you will lose 1 second out of the 30 you start with.
- If hit with the cannon:
- Doge gives 100 points.
- Metal Doge gives 20 then 30 then 300 points.
- Doge Dark gives 20 then 30 then 500 points.
- If hit by Tank Cat:
- Doge gives 30 points.
- Metal Doge gives 70 points.
- Doge Dark gives 100 points.
- This minigame is able to give a various number of rewards depending on your score:
- 18,000 points will give 5 items.
- 12,000 points will give 3 items.
- 5,000 points will give 2 items.
- Participating will give 1 item.
「Whack-A-Doge」 (わんこでポン, Wanko de Pon, Pon With A Dog)
This minigame includes Viking Cat standing atop a large whack a mole and a Thunderbolt Cannon in the distance.
Your goal here is hit as many enemies that appear from the holes.
- If hit with Viking Cat:
- Doge gives 100 points.
- Ginger snache give 200 points.
- Assassin Bear give 500 points.
- If hit by the Thunderbolt Cannon the enemy will be frozen in place for a short period of time allowing you to hit the enemy before it disappears, additionally it will double the score of the hit enemy.
- This minigame is able to give a various number of rewards depending on your score:
- 13,000 points will give 5 items.
- 7,000 points will give 3 items.
- 4,000 points will give 2 items.
- Participating will give 1 item.
「Meow Meow Relay」 (ネコネコダッシュ, Nekonekodasshu, Cat Cat Dash)
This minigame includes Cat, Lizard Cat, Ninja Cat, Tin Cat and finally Apple Cat that will be used to dash across a mat avoiding obstacles such as Enemies and red spikes while collecting coins and interacting with a Cat Unit after a certain distance has been run, such like the Olympic sport Baton Pass.
Your goal here is to avoid all obstacles while collecting as many coins as possible.
- If a coin is collected it will grant 100 points.
- If dashing over a dash panel you will dash faster.
- If hit by an enemy you will be stopped for a while before proceeding to dash again.
- This minigame is able to give a various number of rewards depending on your score:
- 14,000 points will give 5 items.
- 8,000 points will give 3 items.
- 4,000 points will give 2 items.
- Participating will give 1 item.
「Li'l Cat Catcher」 (ネコつかみ大作戦, Neko Tsukami Dai Sakusen, Operation Cat Grab)
This minigame includes Cat and Tank Cat catching Li'l Cat, Li'l Axe Cat, Li'l Cow Cat, a golden version of Li'l Cat while avoiding dumbbells falling from the top of the screen.
- Li'l Cat gives 100 points.
- Li'l Axe Cat give 200 points.
- Li'l Cow Cat give 200 points.
- Golden Li'l Cat give 500 points.
- If hit by a falling dumbbell, you will be stopped for a while before being able to move again.
- This minigame is able to give a various number of rewards depending on your score:
- 15,000 points will give 5 items.
- 8,000 points will give 3 items.
- 4,000 points will give 2 items.
- Participating will give 1 item.
The player is also granted with a 30% (20% in Japanese Version) increase to the energy allowing the player to play for longer.
- Additionally, once Stories of Legend has been completed on all 3 star difficulty, the player is able to play the minigames at any time they want.
- Versus 「対戦モード」: There are two modes to versus, Single-Screen (おすそわけ), where two players share the same Switch but require two different controllers to play and Local Play (ローカル通信), where players are able to play on different Switch consoles in a local area. There are many extra additions to versus:
Stage Size 「ステージサイズ」 Players can choose up to five different stage sizes to fight against:
- Small 「小」.
- Medium 「中」.
- Large 「大」.
- Huge 「特大」.
- Random 「ランダム」: Stage size is chosen from any of the choices above.
Time Limit 「制限時間」 Players can choose up to how long they want to fight against:
- 90 Sec. 「90秒」.
- 3 Min. 「3分」.
- 5 Min. 「5分」.
- No Limit 「無劼限」: Battle goes on until either base has been defeated.
Level Adjust 「しベル合わせ」 Players can adjust the lineups levels they want to use to fight against:
- None 「なし」: Cat Units stay the same level from single player/co-op progress.
- Level 10 「レべル10」: Cat Unit levels are set to 10.
- Level 20 「レべル20」: Cat Unit levels are set to 20.
- Level 30 「レべル30」: Cat Unit levels are set to 30.
Team Limits「強制編成」 Players choose from a different type of formation available:
- OFF「OFF」: No formation changes.
- Random「ランダム」: - Lineup is randomised with the Cat Units that have been obtained during single player/co-op progress.
- Auto-Equip「ねまかせ」: Line is randomised with the Cat Units that have been obtained during single player/co-op progress with also granting special effects that affect Cat Units stats.
The Cat Cannon plays a very special role in versus mode, it is able to change the enemy Cat Units to a specific enemy trait while also dealing damage to the Cat Units and the opponents base.
When a player defeats an opposing Cat Unit the enemies Power Gauge will lose health.
Players are also shown statistics at the end of the battle when the timer ends or when a player wins:
- Power Level「戦効」.
- Trait Mastery「属性マスタ」.
- Area Control「進軍距離」.
- Damage Done「ボコリ度」.
- Deployed「出撃数」.
At the end of every battle, players are able to choose three options:
- Play Again!!「再戦する!!」: Battle again while keeping the same restrictions.
- Change Rules 「ルール・輪成を変更する!!」: Battle again but change the restrictions.
Return to Base「ネコ基地に戻る」: Return back to the main menu.
Exclusive Content
Cat Units
- Cat Bros, the first free Special Cat. It can be obtained by ordering the game's release.
- As of July 16th, 2020, this cat can be obtained when ordering the Official Limited Edition The Battle Cats Unite Nintendo Switch Case combo.
- Once either game has been obtained by the player, a leaflet with a code to obtain Cat Bros will be inside of the game case.
- Kabuto Cat, a cat that could be unlocked when buying the 15th, November 2018 issue of CoroCoro Comic. Inside the comic would be a small leaflet with Kabuto Cat on the front of it - when opened, it would give the reader directions on how to obtain said cat.
- Kuwagata Cat, a cat that could be unlocked when buying the 9th, February 2019 issue of CoroCoro Comic. Inside the comic would be a small leaflet with Kuwagata Cat on the front of it - when opened, it would give the reader directions on how to obtain said cat.
- Corodragon, a collaboration unit that can be unlocked when participating in the 「次世代ワールドホビーフェア'19 Winter」 (Next Generation World Fair Winter 2019) at 17th February, 2019, a card would be given to the participant with a serial code that would unlock Corodragon when input and opening the game.
- Undies Cat Jr., a cat that could be unlocked when buying the 15th, July 2020 issue of CoroCoro Comic. Inside the comic would be a small leaflet with Undies Cat Jr. on the front of it - when opened, it would give the reader directions on how to obtain said cat.
- Mallet Cat, the second free Special Cat Cat the player will receive when ordering the Switch Case combo.
Serial Code Units
The Battle Cats Unite! includes most of the Serial Code units, but as the serial codes for said units have expired, new conditions have been set to obtain them.
- Capsule Cat - Clear any stage by sending only one Cat Unit on the field.
- Masked Cat - Open the game at midnight.
- Maiko Cat - Clear Egypt (京都府, Kyoto in the Japanese Version) 10 times with unevolved Cats in the lineup.
- Toy Machine Cat - Do 30 Cat Capsule draws, then clear any stage.
- Blue Shinobi - Clear Greece and Russia (滋賀県, Shiga and 三重県, Mie in the Japanese Version) 10 times.
- Cat Bros - Clear any stage with a lineup consisting of; Macho Cat, Wall Cat and Brave Cat.
- Squish Ball Cat - View the Cat Storage for 5 minutes straight, then win any stage in-game.
Region Locked/Miscellaneous Units
Many region locked-units that are exclusive for anniversaries such as Nekondo, Baozi Cat, Crazed Baozi Cat, Li'l Valkyrie and Li'l Valkyrie Dark also unlockable. They can be obtained by ordering the game's first Asia-English release.

Version Differences
Mobile and Switch
- Many enemy units do not show up in the Enemy Guide, most notably enemies from Versions 4.5 through 11.7, this is most likely either due to hardware limitations of the Switch or that the Switch differs in terms of content.
- Special Cats are obtained the same way as they are on mobile, however they do not have their True Forms.
- Despite the Special Cats not having True Forms, many Rare Super Rare and Uber Rare Cats do have True Forms but not all of them, with the exception of Valkyrie Cat and Bahamut Cat.
- Holy Valkyrie Cat can be obtained from Calabash Nebula (ひょうたん星雲, Gourd Nebula)
- Awakened Bahamut Cat can be obtained from clearing Dead End Night then Bahamut Cat Awakens (開眼のネコムート, Awakened Cathamut).
- Despite the Special Cats not having True Forms, many Rare Super Rare and Uber Rare Cats do have True Forms but not all of them, with the exception of Valkyrie Cat and Bahamut Cat.
- The Normal and Rare Cat Capsule + levels have been dropped to a lower level cap.
- Normal Cats can only go to level 20+30.
- Rare Cats can only to go level 30+20.
- This does not apply to Bronze Cat, Clockwork Cat and Hoop Cat, which can only be upgraded to level 30.
- Super Rare Cats can only go to level 30+20
- This does not apply to Catornado, Cheerleader Cat, Driller Cat, Piledriver Cat, Cutter Cat, Backhoe Cat and Miter Saw Cat, which can only be upgraded to level 30.
- Uber Rare Cats can only go to level 30+20.

- Pai-Pai, Strike Unit R.E.I. and Sakura Sonic can now be obtained from UBERFEST as well as the Limited Edition and Reinforcement units, however the UBERFEST gacha only appears during weekends.

- Cheerleader Cat will be unlocked when clearing N77 Nebula (N77星雲).
- Evangelist Cat will be unlocked when clearing The Big Bang.
- The Crazed and Maniac Stages follow a different schedule than in the mobile version.

- Many of the Stories of Legend stages have been excluded, most likely due to hardware limitations or because the content in those chapters may be seen as uninteresting to players. Stories of Legend ends at Dead End Night, where the final Legend Cat the player can obtain will be Li'l Nyandam. All stages prior including Dead End Night can be completed up to 3-star difficulty.
- Once completing a sub-chapter on a star difficulty, rather than getting 30 Cat Food from completion the player will receive 100 Cat Food; the same applies to the Event Stages.
- Features such as Cat Combos, Catseyes, Zombie Outbreaks, Catclaw Dojo, Gamatoto, Ototo, Talents, Meow Medals and more appear nowhere in game.
- Continuing a stage and energy refills now cost 3 Cat Food instead of the usual 30.
- Many other differences can be easily found by playing the game normally.
3DS and Switch
- The names and descriptions of cats and enemies are closer to the mobile version's than in The Battle Cats POP!, where most cats and enemies had their names or descriptions completely changed.
- The Main Chapter levels have more accurate stage and Treasure names.
- The Stories of Legend have been added, albeit not all chapters.
- Separate save files no longer exist on a single cartridge rather individual Switch user.
- However, exclusive Serial Code units are shared throughout each individual user.
- The special effects in VS Mode are nowhere to appear and is replaced with a trait-changing Cat Cannon.
- The unit level cap has been increased significantly.
- Rare Cats are now capped at 30+20 rather than 20+3.
- Super Rare Cats are now capped at 30+20 rather than 20+5.
- Uber Rare Cats are now capped at 30+20 rather than 20+7.
- The Monthly, Cyclone, and Crazed Cats are no longer obtained from the Cat Capsule.
- The Cat Food amount to do a Cat Capsule draw is now similar to the mobile version.
- The Cat Food amount when obtaining a duplicate Treasure has been significantly increased.
- Inferior grants 15 rather than 1.
- Normal grants 30 rather than 2.
- Superior grants 50 rather than 3.
