Torture Room is the fourth stage in Prince of Darkness.
Battleground
You have just 45 seconds to kill one Shy Boy and destroy the enemy base, or the game will spawn 20 Assassin Bears, making it crucial to rush this stage.
Strategies
By using cats with anti-Red abilities (namely Island Cat, Crazed Whale Cat and Bath Cat) and fast cats (Crazed Giraffe Cat in particular), you can beat the stage before the Assassin Bears appear. When the player's Cat Cannon Power is upgraded to max level, it can kill the Assassin Bears, however, there are too many bears to kill with only one shot of the Cat Cannon.
Strategy 1
An almost insultingly easy strategy is to simply fill your first rank with the first five Crazed Cats (granting an initial $1000 via Cat Combo), and place Awakened Bahamut in the second rank. Begin the stage, wait for your money to reach $4500 and push the instant win button.
Alternatively, if you do not have the Crazed Cats, two Elemental Duelist Cats, if high enough level, can eliminate the Shy Boy quickly, which will give enough money to summon Awakened Bahamut.
Strategy 2 (Realm of Carnage)
This strategy requires some certain Combos (Three Kings & Seasons of Love). Prevent any damage to the Cat Base.
- Lineup: Lion Cat, King Dragon Cat, Madam King, Koi Cat, Maiden Cat; Crazed Whale Cat, Island Cat and Awakened Bahamut.
One Crazed Whale and Island Cat should take care of the Shy Boy just fine, then finish the stage with Awakened Bahamut.
Strategy 3 (Cheese)
Interestingly enough, there is actually a way to cheese this stage. (Credit to Chillhola) With good timing, you can glitch past the Shy Boy and quickly take out the base. First, use an anti-Red cat such as Elemental Duelist Cat to attack the Shy Boy and eventually knock it back. As SOON as it gets knocked back release Maglev Cat to glitch past the Shy Boy and take out the base.
Strategy 4
This strategy needs a Unit Speed Up (M) or 2 (Sm) in your first slot.
Level 15+ Sexy Bathtub Cat, level 7+ Swimmer Cat, Ramen Cat (or equivelent cheap, high damage cat) level 11+ Crazed Giraffe Cat, Lion Cat in your second slot.
Send out 1 or 2 Ramen cats, Sexy Bathtub cat and Swimmer cat. Once the Shy Boy is almost dead, spam Crazed Giraffe and Lion Cat and hope that you beat it in time.
Strategy 5 (ft. Cat Combos)
Line 1: Skelecat*, Necromancer Cat*^, Rocker Cat', Moneko', Puppetmaster Cat^

Row 2: Crazed Whale (18+), Island (20+15+), Crazed Giraffe (20+)
Begin the battle, simply let the Shy Boy come to your base and send out the dual Fish. After the Shy Boy dies, spam Crazed Giraffe and destroy the enemy base. You can maybe put in smt to kill the Shy Boy faster or destroy the base faster.
- Note: This strategy is just a revamped version of Nurse Wuffa's strategy, but with Combos to increase the success chance.
Strategy 6
Spam Ramen Cat (Rocker Cat) until Shy Boy dies
Ramen must be at least lvl 30.
Then spawn AWAKENED BAHAMUT CAT...
Strategy 7 (No A. Bahamut)
Cat Combo : Bento Special (Money UP (M)), Cool Japan (Unit Attack UP (M))
Row 1: Ninja Cat, Sumo Cat, Samurai Cat, Sushi Cat, Sashimi Cat
Row 2: Maximum the Fighter, Crazed Giraffe Cat, iCat
At the beginning let Shy Boy come close near your base. Then spawn iCat → 3 Maximum the Fighter → spam Crazed Giraffe Cat.
Total levels : Maximum the Fighter - 35, iCat - 31, Crazed Giraffe Cat - 20, Worker Cat Rate - 27
Strategy 8 (6-Cat Line Up) by Okreally
Cat line up: Gold Cat, Macho/Mohawk, Eraser/Wall, Thaumaturge Cat, Swordsman Cat and Crazed Giraffe Cat. You literally don't need any other cats!
The Cat Combo for Gold/Macho gives you a Starting Money Up bonus (Sm). When Shy Boy appears send out Gold, Macho, Eraser, Thaumaturge and two Swordsmen. Thaumaturge should weaken and Swordsman will be able to take out the Shy Boy in mere seconds. Spam Crazed Giraffes just before he dies so they can already be on their way. Keep in mind Shy Boy has 2 knockbacks. They need to get to the enemy vase fast before the Assassin Bears spawn. This strategy requires perfect timing.
Material Farming
Torture Room is notable because it is easily the best stage in the game to farm building materials for the Ototo Corps, due to its ease and the fact that every material type except the meteorite drops from the stage. If you are short on materials, this is a very quick stage to run repeatedly and get some very quickly.
