Strategy/Usage[]
Like the other Ultra Souls, Urashima Taro has significantly different stats between Normal (spammable) and Evolved Form (high performance), both of which can be used effectively depending on the situation.
Normal Form[]
Urashima Taro has a whole lot of range, but it’s too much be used as a proper meatshield, so he ends up being more of a generalist attacker who doesn't die immediately once he is reached by the traits he targets. As for quality, he strongly resembles Drama Cats, just with shorter range and better stats. Use him with meatshields to take out dangerous enemies with medium-short range. He can be useful in Outbreak stages due to spammability, low speed, area attack, range, and moderate damage.
Evolved Form[]
Guardian Gamereon is a different unit. He can be a tank due to his resistance to his target traits with his high health. However, his range means he only serves as a secondary line of defense, being unable to protect your lower-ranged units. You can use him as a generalist, but his damage isn't the best, not to mention he is bogged down by his extreme cost and recharge time when you could have used other sources of damage, as he works better as a defensive unit. Even against his target traits, he doesn't work all that well because Blacks and Angels tend to spam melee pushers like Shadow Boxer K and Angelic Gory, so he's better off against ranged threats that can't quickly get rid of him so they can't advance while the rest of your units catch up, as in the case with Kurosawah and Sunfish Jones. Unfortunately, accessible superior options already exist for these threats as well, so Gamereon is at best mediocre and cannot be relied on much.
True Form[]
King Gamereon doesn't change much. The extra stats do improve his impact on the field and he can outrange more threats, but he is generally unchanged for the most part, being a ranged tank that occasionally does a fair bit of damage. The Weaken Immunity does sound good on paper, but not many enemies in his targeted traits utilize this ability in the first place, so it remains situational. He does get to shine more on stages where specialists like him are needed, but Curse effects and other strong threats outside of his target traits are all what's needed to remove his effectiveness. Nevertheless, despite not fixing any weaknesses that plagued this unit, this True Form should not be discounted.
Talents[]
Resistance to Freeze and Knockback are not very useful in general. Blacks don't rely on abilities much, making it pointless, and while Chickful A/Angelic Sleipnir do abuse them a lot, Gameron isn't the best choice for dealing damage in the first place to them. Likewise, Slow is not all that important. While Gameron does have a decently fast attack rate and can keep the melee pushers locked behind, it's often better to leave them be so your lower-ranged units can counter them better instead of having to wander within the line of fire. Defense Buff and Attack Buff are definitely important. Although Gameron may not be the most impressive generalist, these Talents do become significant because Gameron primarily relies on his high stats, specifically health, and more of either is always good. It's recommended to boost him with Catseyes before investing Talents for maximum effect as they cost a bit too much for the percentage they add.
