Guardian Gamereon is a different unit. His range is good enough to be used as a generalist, but it’s only decent, and too high for a traditional tanker. Along with that, his damage is kind of low, so bringing him specifically for damage is not an idea likely to cross your mind. Luckily, the damage can work, if not for the fact that he'll protect your cats for a while once he is reached. This form works best as a powerful anti-black and angel tank. |

Strategy/Usage
Like the other Ultra Souls, Urashima Taro has significantly different stats between Normal (spammable) and Evolved Form (high performance), both of which can be used effectively depending on the situation.
Normal Form
Urashima Taro has a whole lot of range, but it’s too much be used as a proper meatshield, so he ends up being more of a generalist attacker who doesn't die immediately once he is reached by the traits he targets. As for quality, he strongly resembles Drama Cats, just with shorter range, but better stats. Use him with meatshields to take out dangerous enemies with medium-short range.
Evolved Form
Guardian Gamereon is a different unit. His range is good enough to be used as a generalist, but it’s only decent, and too high for a traditional tanker. Along with that, his damage is kind of low, so bringing him specifically for damage is not an idea likely to cross your mind. Luckily, the damage can work, if not for the fact that he'll protect your cats for a while once he is reached. This form works best as a powerful anti-black and angel tank.
He works especially well against Kurosawah, Sunfish Jones, Two Can or any other black or angel enemy whose attacks are difficult to avoid. His use should instead be avoided against rush armies, such as most stages with Shadow Boxer K or Angelic Gory spam, as he'll quickly get overwhelmed.
Compared to other tanks, Gamereon has high health, but also a painfully long cooldown and unusually low DPS, making tanks like Maeda Keiji preferable more often than not.
This segways into his generalist usage. Gamereon, at least in this form, is rarely usable outside of his niche. The cooldown and cost are the primary reasons why. They make him terrible in the uncanny legends stages, as he will die very easily, wasting money and time. The range and damage also somewhat contribute to this, but all of that aside, Gamereon has the potential to be quite a lot better.
True Form
King Gamereon has better stats overall, which are especially important for a tank. He is now able to withstand attacks much better, his occasional attacks have a stronger effect on the battlefield and he can outrange more stuff, which makes him more versatile. For the rest, he's the same.
His usage in late game, as well as in Uncanny Legends, has the potential to be outright monstrous, but only if a lot of Catseyes and NP are invested in him. Tanks, more than other types of units, suffer a lot from the gradual increase in strength of the average enemy. A single Sir Rel, for example, can destroy a lvl.30 Gamereon in roughly 10 seconds, so a slip-up usually costs a lot, especially for a unit with Gamereon's recharge time.
Investing extra EXP is what brings him his relevancy. Being a tanker that stays behind the battlefield is usually bad, but Gamereon uses that to it’s fullest advantage, allowing him to work a second wall in case things get messy.
Talents
Resistance to freeze and knockback are both very situational talents. Since Gamereon won’t make nearly as much use of these talents outside of his niche compared to his stats, they mostly end up unnoticed unless Chickful A or Angelic Sleipnir are around, so only unlock these resistances if you are desperate.
Health up and attack up are definitely important, as this is his bread and butter. He needs all the help he can get to stay relevant, so allowing him to live longer is a good idea in any regard. Slow, lastly, can help Gamereon be relieved of hordes that were hitting him, by knocking them back with damage and keeping them there, meaning that this talent ends up being a potentially major improvement.
