Strategy/Usage[]
First, note that this cat has no generalist value whatsoever, except at the very beginning of the game, where about every unit can be worked with.
When it comes to Zombies, Welterweight Cat can be very helpful against slow ones, as they will definitely struggle to make progress when confronted by semi-consistent knockbacks: notably Miss Haka, Zyclone and Big Sal. In general, his value comes from being able to knock zombies who already passed below the frontline back, away from a potentially vulnerable backline. He can do so during the unburrow animation, thus gaining a couple free hits too. Unfortunately, he's not the most reliable and he can easily lose multiple knockbacks worth of health (and usually die) if his knockbacks don't happen in time.
True Form[]
Ectoweight Cat gains doubled health and 30 more range. The increase in health gives him an extra few seconds to knockback a burrowing Zombie before getting knocked back himself, plus it gives him more time to stop a fast approaching zombie on the frontline (like Zyclone). Unfortunately, the effect is hardly noticeable due to having only 3 knockbacks. The range improvement gives him another Zombie to counter: Lord Gravey, who can now consistently be knocked back.
Overall, the improvement is minimal; it is thus recommended not to give this evolution high priority.
Talents[]
Target Alien could be quite useful, as some of them (Cyberhorn, Nimoy Bore, Mesocosmocyclone, Star Peng and so on) can often take a while to naturally knock back and can rarely be properly stalled, so having a unit who can re-gain ground and relieve the frontline of some pressure is often nice. Defense Buff and Attack Buff Talents do little, unless Ectoweight has a solid amount of + levels on top. Savage Blow offers the same exact DPS increase as Attack Buff, so it should be treated the same. Ultimately, an Ectoweight Cat with + levels, high base level and offensive talents can do some good damage and offer a good chance to finish off Zombies with Zombie Killer, but it's never going to compare to proper attackers. Resist Weaken should just be avoided.
Orb[]
Attack or Defence against Zombies. Since the effect would be minimal, saving up high-rank Orbs for him is not recommended.
