  • ZL 13's Japanese name, Kakusareshi Morumotō (隠されしモルモ島, "Hidden Island of Morumo"), contains a pun on morumotto (モルモット, derived from marmot but actually refers to a guinea pig, hinting at the sub-chapter's scientific theme) and (島, "island").
  • ZL 13-3 stands out in that its Japanese name arguably has more to do with magic than science. The name Kodoku ga Umu Kodoku (蠱毒が生む孤独, "Kodoku-induced Loneliness") refers to kodoku (蠱毒, "curse poison"), a type of witchcraft performed by arranging various insects inside a jar, waiting for them to kill each other until only one remains, and using the sole survivor or its fluids to lay a harmful curse on someone.
